Good router, but AIMesh not what I had hoped

I purchased two RT-AX55s to build an AIMesh network. Even though I have a Cat6 wire to both, they want to connect via wireless first. I want to save that bandwidth, so I had to select 1G WAN Only for the backhaul. Doing so worked, but it seems that most wireless devices, even when within feet of the AX55 node, still seem to want to connect to the main AX88U router.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Covers the house (999 sq ft) easily and not too bulky. Cheaper than other routers but just as good if not better. Size is not too bulky. Would def recommend.

We bought this last month after having months of problems with our older one. The Asus was simple and quick to get setup and is working flawlessly.

Older model ax55 more powerful than Rex200 router!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently found a great deal for a ax55 router and was surprised at ease of setting up this router and the super charged performance its been getting. With my netgear router i was getting sluggish performance and here i was very impressed that this older asus router was no way slow or would be less capable than my netgear rex200. Im now curious how aimesh performs!!

I've had this for a couple of months, replacing a Linksys router. Very pleased. Have had no signal drops.

Solid features, straightforward setup & mesh

We had a Verizon coax router and secondary which (despite assurances) were NOT a "self-organizing network." Since I had used ASUS motherboards and routers in the past, I got this RT-AX55 and an RT-AX1800S for the AImesh feature. Disabled Wifi radio on both Verizon devices; attached the RT-AX55 WAN to a LAN port of the main Verizon router, moved a network cable to the AX55, and attached the RT-AX1800S at the other end (thank heavens we installed network cable when we renovated, back before wifi was so good). Set up the RT-AX55 with all the same network ID, guest network, and the newer functionality of Wifi6; then told it to go find the mesh partner AX1800S, which took just a few minutes. BTW the ASUS control app is on a laptop so I can carry it around the house to check settings and signal strengths. Additional new features: I can force some little monitoring devices to attach to the closer router, and give priority to others. Very satisfied with the results: better coverage, better continuous coverage while walking around the house, and solid performance, all at very reasonable price.

I bought this router 3 weeks ago to replace and older unit. The older unit is also a ASUS router (AC-3100). Nothing wrong with the old unit, I'm just kind of a tech junkie and I like to stay current with my hardware. I will probably set up a mesh network using the AC-3100 as a node off the RT-AX57.

Had this router for about two months and couldn't be happier. Not only will it not break the bank but the coverage, speed & features make it the best choice for the average user. Setup was super easy and there have been no issues whatsoever with any aspect of usage...in fact it solved an online speed issue that I was having with my previous router (another brand that wasn't that old). Hands down the best purchase I've made in a long time!
