Why doesn't it connect to my charge 4?

I am confused why jbl speakers have different communication formates. I bought a charge 4 speaker and now a flip 5 in the hopes that I will be able to play them simaltaneously and when I tried I found out they do not work together!! Why would a company do that?

We appreciate the feedback you've provided to us. Our JBL Flip 5 has a feature called JBL PartyBoost which is a different feature from our JBL Charge 4's JBL Connect +. We're always looking for ways to improve so we'll make sure to submit your feedback to the right department.
I'm very disappointed with these speakers. The instructions that were provided were not adequate, the App is also not very helpful. I don't know how to adjust the volume when they're paired, so that the volume is the same for both speakers.

I bought this for myself for the holidays; I've been wanting a bluetooth speaker to take with me when I travel. I read many other comparison reviews about the superior audio quality and battery life of the Flip 5 and made the decision to purchase (and customize!) the speaker. I love it! It sounds great, it looks great, and it's compact enough to carry with me when I travel (I listen to it at the beach, by the pool, and in my hotel room).
I bought myself 2 jbl flip 5's and they really sound amazing. I used them indoors and even outside when having a braai and they surprised me every time, as a single speaker and even in partyboost. Therefor my 5 star rating. However I must say. Playing at 70 to 80% volume constantly made the battery last only 5 hours which is not to good for me. And even when playing 30 to 50% volume it wouldnt even last 12hrs as advertised.(your site shows more than 12hrs). And when playing in partyboost the speaker connected to your phone runs flat quicker than the other that's only connected to the main speaker. I love this speaker and will recommend it to anyone.
I bought this a few weeks ago and the sound is crystal clear and amazing... Very upset I only had my Flip 4 for a year and it doesn’t hold a charge like it used to but very impressed with this Flip 5
I replaced my Fip4, which stopped taking a charge, even though it was only about 1 1/2 years old and out of warranty . The new Flip5 which I paid for and received is terrible. The sound is like a small explosion. I contacted customer service and they agreed that it was defective and should be replaced. I am waiting and waiting for your process for that.

... particularly when linked in stereo mode, but enabling this feature is kludgey and takes quite a bit of resetting and practice with the JBL Connect app to get everything in sync. Ideal would be if stereo could be set as default. Also, JBL Connect app isn't designed for iPad which makes it cumbersome to use on iPad Pro with keyboard attached. That said, a great and very portable solution, with that iconic JBL speaker presence/fidelity.
