I love JBL products but this is the second time I've returned a Bluetooth speaker! I purchased a Flip 5 since I usually like to stay up with the current generation and sell off my last gen product. Well this time around I'm not upgrading! Why you ask? Because as an owner of the JBL Flip 4, Charge 3 and Pulse 3 I was extremely disappointed to find that YET AGAIN JBL has changed their pairing software. So now I have hundreds of dollars worth of BT speakers that I can't pair together and play in sync. I learned my lesson the second time around. First disappointment was the Charge 4. It has Better base for for sure, but it's sound was "compressed" compared to my Charge 3. So I returned the Charge 4 and purchased another Charge 3. Now the Flip 5 has a similar "compressed" audio profile but with better base. Either way like the Charge 4 the Flip 5 doesn't sound as good as its previous model. Then add the blunder that is party boost and we have a total failure in my opinion. Oh and they also took away the speakerphone function. Why oh why are you stripping features and parts from your new products JBL? not cool!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Feel the Boom!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Flip 5 keeps the jamz going! The bass coming from speakers is phenomenal! You can see the beat of the music from looking at the Flip 5. This beautiful little speaker is loud enough for an outside party or inside get together. The best part of this speaker is that it is waterproof. We have used this in the pool and in the shower, as funny as that may be. If any of your friends have another one of these little wonders, you can connect them to create surround sound! Amazing. The only negative about these new Flip 5’s is that the charger is different than the others in JBL flip series, so they are no longer interchangeable. It also takes longer to charge than the others. Overall, definitely worth your money! It is the life of our pool parties!

Sounds better as a pair

I bought my first Flip 5 and it sounded ok. Has more base than my flip 4 but missing some of the upper mids and highs of the Flip 4. I was was about to return it but decided to purchase a second flip 5(both are GG models). Played as a pair in stereo they sound absolutely amazing.
I would recommend this to a friend!

JBL has yet to disappoint when it comes to quality and aesthetics. The hardest thing to do is find a waterproof speaker that does not fork over quality of sound. Big thanks to the guys in the JBL lab for coming through. This thing goes with me anywhere applicable.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This speaker has excellent battery life and sounds great. The connect feature would be useful but I only have one flip 5. I don't like the fact that the only available way to sit it is on end. The case works well to set it in but it is a little bulky. Bluetooth connectivity works very well.
I had my wife use it to compare to her flip 2. She wasn't crazy about the moving ends. Her speaker has fixed ends which she liked better. She was very interested in the longer battery life.
Overall this is a great speaker. I compared it to my charge 2 and the bass is not as good. Battery life is much better. This is a nice addition to JBLs Bluetooth speaker lineup but there are not many bells and whistles compared to the existing speakers.

Pint sized powerhouse

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this thing for a couple weeks now and so far I love it! It charges up fairly quickly and the charge lasts almost all day. A round of golf and a barbecue after and it was still running strong. At low volume the sound is nice and full. At high volume some of the deep bass drops out but it still sounds great. This little speaker is louder than it looks too. It’s small enough to put right in a cup holder or there’s a lanyard on one end. I wish they’d put a lanyard fitting on each end at 90 degrees so you could hang it and it would face you like they do with the Extreme. And it’s waterproof! Now I need at least one more so I can link them in stereo with the JBL app. Well done JBL!

Powerful sound with great clarity. Worth the $$

Bought this two weeks ago. It is about the size of an energy drink can (16oz) and bumps as loud as the system in my car. 100% worth the money. Easy to grab and go anywhere. Would definitely recommend.
