Strong Chemical Odor

We purchased this bookcase for our grandson's room. When we opened the box, there was a very strong chemical odor. We put the box in the garage for a week to let it air out. It still had a chemical smell, but we assembled it and put it in his room with the windows open. It has now been 6 months and while the odor is not as strong, it is still giving off fumes. We contacted SimpliHome and found out that the only remedy would be to disassemble and return the bookcase for a replacement. The box is long gone so, even if we wanted to disassemble it, we would need an appropriate box and padding to send it back and there is no guarantee that the replacement wouldn't have the same problem. It is very disappointing since we loved the style of the bookcase.

Acadian 9 Cube Bookcase in White

This is a beautiful bookcase in the exact color and size we were looking for! He bookcase came well packaged with no damage. Assembly was extremely easy with easy-to-follow instructions. All pieces were well-labeled to match the diagrams in the instructions. There was even an additional bag of hardware, labeled "extra hardware" in case you misplace something. My wife and I assembled the bookcase in about an hour, but we took our time. A note of caution: be careful as you are assembling the shelves to align the screws and be gentle when fastening everything. There is a possibility of chipping the paint around the screw holes if you aren't careful. We did this in a few areas, but backed out the screws and used some superglue to prevent the chips from completely detatching before re-fastening the screws. This only happened in 2 areas, so not a big deal. The bookcase looks great, is sturdy (Solid wood. Not cheap pressboard). I fully anticipate this bookcase lasting a long time.
