No instruction manual

Lack of instructions are a huge obstacle to using the machine. At a minimum, there should be a key describing each symbol.

Mats wear out quickly

The reason why it is 2 stars is the mat wears out very quickly and buying new mats are expensive. you have to use painters tape to hold the paper down to cut otherwise it moves all over. The machine is great. Easy to use.

Endless possibilities for projects

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. I am so impressed with this Scan n cut machine so far! I’ve been working on making some labels for containers, but am excited to try out other projects too. Next, I’ll be doing a vinyl transfer. It’s very user friendly, and was very easy to figure out. I had it set up and ready to cut within 5 minutes. It cut quickly and efficiently. Couldn’t ask for anything better.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best Cutting Machine

I received my SDX85M, yesterday, and I absolutely love it. I have the Cricut Maker, also. But, my ScanNCut will be used much more. I love the auto blade technology. I’ve completed a project, already. All of my drawings and outlines can be easily scanned and cut. I think both machines are great, but I like the ScanNCut the best. Why did I wait this long to try it? Don’t know! So happy!!

I've had the new SDX125i for less than a month. I've used it a handful of times and the mat will not load anymore. I was able to buy another mat online and it worked great. After using it another couple of times, I'm having the same problem yet again with it not loading. I really dislike the fact that there is a different mat for this new machine that can only be fed in one direction. As for the auto blade, I think it is cutting way to deep which is also destroying the mat. I have to say it is super quiet and has a better scanner but sadly i'm returning it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

NOT GOOD FOR SMALL BUSINESS

The machine is easy to use but the design studio is in CAVEMAN TIMES. The studio is too limited for a small small business owner, if only they would at least try to compete with silhouette and circuit. you can't even have multiple design tabs open like in the sil and cricut studios. BROTHER PLEASE USE THIS CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AND IMPROVE YOUR CANVAS WORKSPACE.

Fast and quiet!

It's my first cutting machines, so there was definitely a learning curve to figure out how to use it. I was pleasantly surprised that I did not need to connect the ScanNCut to a device. It also took some patience to get the outline the way I wanted when there wasn't a strong contrast between the background and image. The ScanNCut detects the cut marks on the mat after a while as well. It cuts pretty fast and it's not as noisy as I thought it would be. I'm really enjoying using the Brother ScanNCut cutting machine!
I would recommend this to a friend!
