Still learning

I really like this machine even though it takes awhile to learn how to use it. Canvas work place is great but I still can’t figure out how to work with multi colored designs and cut them out properly. I like to use original designs but I am having trouble cutting them out right despite watching numerous videos. I feel that the instructions are lacking.

Great for the dovit your selfer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this because my niece was getting married and i offered to help. We made custom invitations and table cards that were really cute and a bit hit with the guest. Its fairly easy to use but does have a bit of a learning curve. I love the scanning feature the best I need more practice but with 2 more nieces to go i will have the chance. Bottom line its fun and it works

Great machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Setting up and getting started was easy, the machine does the work for you. I used to admire my friends for all of the projects they had on display, now my wife and I can do the same. There are downloaded images to use at the touch of a button and the machine adapts to the type and thickness of material being cut. Using the software is easy and adaptive. This tool also comes in very handy for my kids and their class projects. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has interest in this type of hobby or need.

Endless Possibilities

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such a neat printer/cutter. The initial set up is pretty easy to do. We had a little trouble at first getting our wireless internet set up, but we eventually got it. We were just looking in the wrong place.
It comes with a mat, spatula, and a stylus pen for the display.
I will be honest, we had some trouble getting it to cut the pattern. It is super easy to set up what pattern you want. It just takes a few steps. I had to run the mat through the printer and pattern several times before it actually cut. I'm not sure if it was because the blade was new or what. I presumed it would have cut first thing. I put it on different settings and it just wasn't cutting the card stock. After several attempts it finally did cut. I pulled the paper up and used the spatula to lift my pattern off.
What is super cool with this Brother is that you can actually scan your own designs and use your computer to print/cut out whatever you like. It will cut vinyl, some fabrics, cardstock, etc.
I'm definitely going to get some materials and make some Christmas crafts with this. The possibilities are endless with this cutter. This is a crater's dream come true.

Only had it a year and I can no longer use it

After a while the matt stops feeding correctly which sucks because this is my second cutting machine. I also have a label maker and a sewing machine. I had to go buy a cricut machine to keepy side business going. I sent it to be fixed and was told it was the matt after getting it back I had a brand new matt it gave me the same issues with a new matt.

Best thing since sliced bread!

I wish I knew about and had purchased the Scan N Cut earlier! I do a lot of papercrafting (cards, calendars, scrapbooking etc.) and the SNC has saved me so much time! I found it very easy to use the first time by just following the quick guide instructions. Set up straightforward and easy. For me the only downside is the size of the machine as I have such a small working craft space. That being said, it is portable and easy enough for me to move the machine to the kitchen counter or dining room table to work.

With some tweaking works great

I am one of the many DX users that had mat loading issues right from the start. I have figured out a way to force the mat to load correctly without it pulling to one side. The machine is a dream to use. It works great on vinyl and paper, and is very quiet. Hopefully Brother will come up with a fix for the mat loading issues.

So many problems

I am on my second SDX125 and I may be sending this one back also. Occasionally having mat loading problems, different parts of the mat cut differently. Now it has started cutting things twice all on its own. When this machine works as it should, it is great. The mats are another issue that needs to be resolved by Brother.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
