Review of GE wall oven with side-opening door

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very nice looking oven. Love the side opening door - makes it a lot easier and safer to remove food in oven. Would have given this a 5 star had it not been that the oven door alignment is slightly off. This could be due to quality issue with the assembly of the oven door.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We're happy to hear that you're enjoying the swing door on your oven, and we'd like assist with the door alignment. The strike on the unit keeps the door closed during cooking and protrudes from the inside of the oven structure. The strike angle can be adjusted if the door is too difficult or easy to open or close. Be careful; oven dimensions not as specified.

I recently purchased & installed this oven. I am sorely disappointed because the oven hinge extends beyond the specified dimension. On the website it states that the oven is 29.75" wide, but in fact the lower hinge extends 3/16" past that. In my case, the hinge will interfere with the adjoining pantry door. There is nothing in either the GE specifications nor the installation manual that mention this extending hinge. I can only 1) trim my pantry door, which will create an uneven space compared to the rest of the kitchen, or 2) grind down the hinge itself.
I am dismayed that a company like GE would let this engineering flaw go unnoticed and unspecified. It points to poor quality, and because of this, I would not recommend purchasing GE products in the future. I won't.

Love our oven

We waited almost a year to receive our oven (we kept getting advised it was because of Covid). This particular model was not the original one we had ordered, but the appliance center (I am sure were getting tired of our relentless weekly phone calls asking for updates) offered us this model instead. We were concerned about the door opening to the side, but I am finding this feature is helpful because I am a petite woman (5 feet) and do not have to reach over a door anymore! I’m also enjoying the variety of features. The settings are user friendly to maneuver. I am still learning the different features and would be willing to do an additional review. I would certainly recommend this product.
