Doesn't dry dishes
on June 30, 2025
Posted by: MikeMonn
It's an OK dishwasher, can be loud at times, does s decent job washing the dishes, but never seems to dry my dishes at all. Doesn't matter of I use the dry booster, higher heat, or any other settings. I cannot get this dishwasher to dry the dishes which makes me question the usefulness of this appliance at all.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It cleans dishes, but that's about it. This is a basic level, apartment style dishwasher. Would not recommend.

Not Very Impressed!

We bought our house with this new dishwasher, and it's been the worst one I have ever owned. The dishes are never dry after washing and it is loud. The bottom basket always gets stuck to the side of the dishwasher and don't move smoothly.

We would like to help you with the drying performance, sound level and basket operation of your unit. We recommend make sure you are using high efficiency detergent in a tablet or packet form (this can also help with the basket operation). Additionally, check that the inlet water temperature is at least 120°F. You can find additional information about drying in the following article: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17451
When it comes to the sound level, make sure the unit is being properly loaded. You can find loading tips in pages 11 to 15 of the owner's manual here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--3wSe9zks--/a59b5d15aed1d69ae0bc2b25d1613503520e95e4.pdf
If your issue persists after troubleshooting, we recommend scheduling service with one of our Bodewell technicians by calling 1-833-426-3393 or visiting us online at: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm

We are so sorry that you are not enjoying this dishwasher, and we would like to provide some guidance. If there is food or detergent residue left on your dishes when the wash cycle is complete, there are a few things you can do to improve your Dishwasher's cleaning performance.
First, you will need to check the installation. Make sure the Dishwasher is connected to the hot water line and not to the cold water line. None of our Dishwashers can heat cold water so that it is hot enough to wash effectively. A 3/8" O.D. copper water line or 1/2" O.D. plastic water line should be used.
You will need to ensure that the water pressure and temperature are up to standard. Proper water temperature is essential to achieve optimum results from your dishwasher and the detergent. Hot water is needed to dissolve and activate the detergent so that it can loosen and remove food soils. The hot water heater should be set to deliver at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit water to the Dishwasher.
We have also provided some additional things to check for at the link here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=38933
In regard to the sound level of this unit, we have provided some normal operating sounds on page 22 of the Owner's Manual here: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--3wSe9zks--/a59b5d15aed1d69ae0bc2b25d1613503520e95e4.pdf
