Fantastic cooker!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn't sure at first about the rice cooker but after I used it to make some rice I knew I made the right choice. The rice came out so fluffy and was so easy to make. No messy cleanup either one nonstick pot and the provided rice paddle made cleanup quick and easy and everyone loved the rice! I am anxious to make oatmeal using the slow cooker function. I really am happy with the clean, compact design, ease of use and other uses of the cooker.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I steamed my potatoes there was a very small screw that's fell into food that was steamed . I am sure glad that I saw it before any of my family ate it. What should I do ?

Having the ability to make rice, saute, steam, saute, make hot cereals, slow cook meals or make sushi all in one pot is really convenient. The handles make it super easy to carry to and from events and it is really easy to clean. The instructions are very easy to follow and convenient as well. I plan on buying a few for friends so they can enjoy this wonderful product as well.

A Rice Cooker And SO Much More!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm constantly trying to find ways (and appliances) that will help me eat healthier. The real task is finding things that can make it easy to quickly get something going without a lot of fuss. First off, this Hamilton Beach rice cooker does cook perfect rice each and every time (both white and brown), with the touch of a button-set and walk away. That's a great base and I can make plenty enough for a bunch of meals. What I really love is the versatility of this product, so much I can do in one single "pot" as it's actually a multi-cooker. The steaming basket is large (not like the very small, limited baskets you usually get)-you can steam a LOT of veggies and meat or fish with room to spare. I'm going to work on getting it all going so I get a complete meal with very little to clean up. I've also used the sautee function and even cooked some packaged products easily and I know I'm going to love the grains/cereal settings to get my workouts going with the perfect steel cut oats. I'm just getting started, but I love having a product like this that can do so many things and help me kickstart getting less processed foods into my diet with ease.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is not only a rice cooker but it has settings for hot cereal and steaming basket. I'm not super happy with the coating of the pot, I was hoping for a stainless but the functionality won me over. Another great feature compared to my old cooker are handles on the pot itself for removal.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my Hamilton Beach Premium Rice Cooker and immediately wanted to use it! I normally cook my rice in a pot on the stove. I always deal with it being too wet or not enough water and I deal with it sticking to the bottom of the pot, but after using the rice cooker all those mistakes were completely gone and it just scoops right out. It cooks just the right amount of time and makes it perfect! I thought it was going to be difficult cleaning and keeping it clean. I was so wrong! It is so simple to take the main parts off and clean them and put it all right back together. Not only does it cook rice but it also steams and does so much more! I will never go back to a regular pot! I highly recommend this product.

Excellent rice cooker needs better documentation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to have the opportunity to review and try out the Hamilton Beach Premium Rice Cooker and multi function cooker. Since I have never owned a rice cooker this was something that I was looking forward to using in my kitchen to make perfect rice and to also steam vegetables for quick dinner meals. Upon receiving the unit we unpacked it and looked for the instruction manual thinking it would have a complete user guide and recipe book on on how to use all of the functions of this premium cooker. To my surprise the instructions were vague and left a lot of guess work on how to use some of the functions of the unit and I would have expected more from such a great device.
If you are making rice this unit will work perfectly and the instructions on using this feature are easy to understand. The rice came out perfectly and my family said it was the best rice they have had since I was never a pro at making rice on the stove top. That being said the other functions involve trial and error to get items to turn out correctly. Next we tried to steam vegetables to have with another dinner meal and it was a disaster. Individually we tried steaming different vegetables including broccoli, carrots and also asparagus and each time the food was either over cooked and mushy or under done and crispy. This is where the instructions could have given guide lines on how much water/vegetables to use and also the amount of time needed to steam different types vegetables.
Next trial was to make breakfast and we tried plain oats and also steel cut oats. Again the instruction manual with cooking guidelines would have been a huge plus for this function as well but it was also trial and error. The regular oats and steel cut oats either came out over cooked or not cooked enough, and we tried following the instructions on the package and then converting the measurements to use in the rice cooker with no luck. After looking on line at other manufactures rice cooker products we were able to get the Hamilton Beach premium rice cooker to make a perfect batch of steel cut oats. By using the rice cooking function and following the cooking instructions as if we were making a manual batch of oats on the stove top we used the same quantities of steel cut oats and water in the rice cooker and the result was a perfect batch of steel cut oats.
The last thing we tested was the slow cooker function since we use a slow cooker all of the time to make meals when we are at work to have ready for dinner when we get home. This function worked fine as long as you were home and were able to watch the unit to adjust the times as needed to cook properly. The addition of different cooking times on the low and high setting would be a great help since not everything cooks in either 2 or 4 hours especially when you are cooking food unattended or need to vary the time.
The Hamilton Beach premium rice cooker has a hug potential and if you are willing to experiment to figure out how to use the different features then you will not be disappointed with the results, but it will be a lot of trial and error. There is no recipe support on the Hamilton Beach website for cooking with this unit but if you check other manufactures similar products on line you can find lots of great recipes that can be adapted to work with this product. In conclusion, a better manual and cooking recipes included with the unit would help people get the most out of this great product.
