I am 66 years old and have been a Webber fan for years, but this new grill is the worst. The stainless is of low quality and even while covered the rust is evident. The gas knobs are poorly manufactured as well. The markings have worn off after very little use. The stops on the control valves do not give you the feel of when the grill is securely shut off and I have accidentally wasted a few tanks of gas by not securely shutting off the grill. Now I do know that the securest way to close down the grill is to close the propane but sometimes it doesn't get done. I am very disappointed in Webber for the first time in 30 years.

Well, after much research I am backing out on my Summit S-470 purchase. I wa pretty excited to finally get a grill that would meet up to its expectations and I will be honest, for this price I would expect a lot. I ordered to have it assembled and delivered by my favorite hardware store. After scouring the internet to gain tips on usage and tricks for the best grilling, I have found nothing but ugly pictures of poor quality and design after only 1 year of use and this is with a grill cover. As a product designer and engineer, I totally understand material selection. Appears that they are selecting the incorrect type of SS and not properly testing it. If it is true that Webers use to last 15+ years, then they should go back to old designs. My biggest disappointment are all of these painted knobs that wear out. Again, think abut the use case, where the customer touches and where the wear occurs. Sorry Weber, you have lost my interest.

I bought this grill six months ago and it was well worth money. I will have this for years to come. There grill does not flame up on my food like my past grills. I love the fact that it is stainless steel and it will not rust.
This is our 2nd one in 12 years. We grill all the time, in any season. Never disappoints.

Called for parts today for my grill that is under a covered outdoor patio with a grill cover and after 3 years items are showing signs of rust and plastic knobs have also already been replaced.

Great Grill, Terrible Knobs!

I purchased an S-470 a little over a year ago and am very pleased with the way it grills. Its a quality grill that is easy to clean. However, the knobs are complete trash. The arbors on the knobs simply crack and break. I am now on my third breakage. WEBER, WHY AREN'T YOU RETROFITTING THESE KNOBS? WHY ISN'T THERE A NEW SOLUTION?

We've had this S-420 for 12 years and it keeps on going! It came in a BIG box and was mostly assembled. I just bolted on the side tables, set up the cabinet and adjusted the doors and we were ready. The grill has worked well for years. Burgers, steaks, seafood, veggies - you name it. The side burner works well, but basically has one setting - boil. You have to keep track of what you have on the burner, because it will get heated up quickly. My favorite item for the burner is sautéed mushrooms! We added the rotisserie attachment (it was a separate item back then). Chickens and roasts turn out amazingly well with the rotisserie.
The grill has held up well. The only items that have needed replacement have been the knobs, cracking about a year ago and the wheels were replaced a few months ago. I don't expect plastic to hold up over this length of time. I also added a second light, as the single light was not bright enough.
This is great grill and when the time comes, it will be replaced with the 470. Assuming that time ever comes! Good job, Weber!

Worst Grill Ever

I bought this expensive grill so that it could last a life time. Within months of owning material started to damage. Grill has rust, chrome on the grill chipped off and even where the gas goes a big whole appeared. Definitely not worth the money because it is made extremely cheap with non-durable material. Don't waste your money on this cheaply made grill.
