We wanted a coffee maker that would brew a whole pot and give us the option of using a pod for a single cup. This unit does that beautifully. It completes the brewing cycle quickly, beeps to let you know it's done and keeps the coffee hot without scorching. It has filters for the water reservoirs to make sure nothing interferes with delicious coffee. The replacement filters are easy to get and don't cost much. It has a timer so you can wake up to a fresh pot every morning and shut down automatically in case you forget to turn it off.
The reservoir for the water on the K cup side is way too small. After 2 cups you have to refill it! About every week or 2 the k cup won’t drain correctly, and you end up with coffee grounds all over the inside of the k cup compartment, which is a pain in the butt to clean!
The carafe side of the brewer works fine and makes good coffee. However, the warming plate temperature is too high. It boils the coffee in the carafe. (You can see and hear it boiling.) This leads to a burnt taste after it sits awhile. The K-cup side has some serious design oversights. First, you cannot easily see how much water is in the reservoir. Second, there is no easy way to drain or dispose of leftover water in the reservoir. You must unplug the entire unit and dump the water out in the sink. A removable reservoir is a must in a product that only gets occasional use.
Love the versatility of this coffeemaker by Cuisinart. It offers the selection of a 1 cup K-cup coffee or a side by side full carafe of coffee. It is easy to operate a a nice compact size for your countertop. Cuisinart makes quality products as has been my experience and they are long-lasting living up to their warranties.
