Re: JBL Clip 4 Item #: JBLCLIP4BLKAM, purchased Oct. '24 I much prefer the original version. I don't need or want to clip the speaker onto a backpack or anything for that matter. I use it at home when streaming news and various talks. I can only lay it on its side, which kind of muffles the sound output. I don't like the beefed up base because it makes certain voices less clear, though it would probably be great for listening to music. The original version was all metal. The new, rubbery type of covering of the current one off-gasses. I leave it by a window, hoping that the smell will eventually go away.

Very Nice Portable Speaker

I received this on time as promised. Works like a charm. Hook it on my belt along with my IPhone and I have music while I work in the yard.

Bluetooth could use some work

The sound quality is awesome as per usual, the clip is much better than the clip 3, however, the distance between my phone and speaker has to be much close then with the clip 3 to keep the signal from cutting out. With the jbl clip 3, my speaker could be in the very back of my backyard playing music and my phone could be on the front porch, now if I have my phone at the back of backyard and my speaker the the front of my backyard it cuts out. I expected better Bluetooth signal from JBL. Other than that, I am very happy with my new speaker

Perfect for on the go

I clip this to my golf bag and it provides perfect amount of music for our 4some.
Crazy long battery life. Tough.
Not loud enough for a party but perfect for those times you need some tunes doing outside chores

Ultra Sensitive Power Button

I replaced my JBL Clip 3 after a year of rugged service hiking and river rafting with the JBL Clip 4 with hopes of the same level of performance. After working with support to get the correct JBL Clip 4 USB-C charging cord <the one included in the new/unopened OEM box was incompatible>. After resolving the charging issue, I've noticed the design placement and sensitivity of the power button makes this a frustrating piece of electronics. If you ever so gently brush the power button it shuts off, if you set it down on the table it shuts off, if you have it clipped to your backpack it shuts off, if you even look at it sideways, it shuts off. The power button is just too sensitive, placed in a poor location on the speaker, should have been depressed in the body like the JBL Clip 3 to avoid all these inconvenient power cycles, usually when I'm singing along to my favorite tune. JBL should do more usability testing on their next iteration, I would gladly trade the JBL CLIP 4 in for another JBL CLIP 3 if given half the chance.
