The overall design and function of the messenger bag are satisfactory. It seems a little improved compared to the previous version, but the cushion on the shoulder strap is a little insufficient compared to the capacity of the bag. Overall good.
I switched from a v1 10L Sling. I needed to carry a 13" MacBook Pro and an iPad and the Sling couldn't handle it. The Messenger is larger and has a place for the laptop and the iPad. So, score!
I can also carry my Fuji 100F and a set of headphones with a lot of space for more items when I need to carry more for work.
The bag is pretty stiff so it doesn't sit close to your side, however, if you wear it across your back it is fine.
The strap is a little odd compared to the Sling which was a pleasure to use. The strap seems to be on backwards, or connected so the strap is crossed. I don't know.
Bottom line, I am very happy with the bag. It does what I wanted it to do. The strap is a minor item and I can't reduce the number of stars because of it.
I was very excited to purchase this bag. The quality is amazing, and the look is clean and professional. Unfortunately, I have become frustrated with the utility of the bag given the width will not easily accommodate a standard notepad, clipboard, folder, etc. in addition, the width will accommodate what I consider to be a small laptop. two more inches would suffice. I can get everything listed in there, but with definite effort that requires me to hold the sides open, make sure nothing is hooked that prevents the stuff from sliding in, etc. this makes interacting with the bag extremely frustrating on a daily basis. Just a little wider, that's it. It was like ordering your favorite food that you've had countless times, and the chef changed that one ingredient that ruins the dish. I really want to love this bag.
I got this to replace my V1 15" Messenger. There are features of the V1 I like better: Outside access to both laptop pocket and incidentals pocket (great place for passport, etc.). On this one you need to open the whole thing for access to almost anything. Still a nice bag, but I'm a little disappointed. Wish I hadn't sold my V1.
I ordered the every day messenger v2 to my arsenal of Peak Design equipment due to its size, and the fact that it sits at your side. It's very comfortable, and it fits a lot (A LOT) which I'm very happy with. I appreciate the easy access at my hip side, and the new side pockets are a really nice touch. I recommend.
I have version 1 of the bag and I absolutely love it. Durable, easy to access and customize, comfortable. Very, very pleased with my purchase. Hard to see where people would find fault with this bag.
It is always all about Design, Quality and Functionality. I recently bought this V2 in a retail shop, knowing V1 (or V1.5) already from a friend, with the hope to get the same extraordinary usability combined with a greater design. Unfortunately I returned it and bought here one of the last V1.5 messenger.
Advantages - relevant for me - yes, a new design which is a bit better than the prev. one - new zipper concept for the front pocket - some new interieur pockets - zipper for the side-pockets
Disadvantages compared to V1.5 - no external access to the MacBook I tried it out several times with this V2 version, but I gave up - always totally open the bag is a step backward - no quick access via zipper to smaller items of the main compartement - front pocket is much too small, even with the better access via the new zipper concept (this was important to me)
Unfortunately the design with V2 was pushed a bit too strong. Especially the very special features with the external access to the main compartment and the external MacBook pocket are lost for a cleaner look. That´s a pity. Really! Another example is the luggage pass-through which overtakes the complete back now, which is a bit lost of space. The V1.5 solution worked already and looked great.
Nevertheless, it is still an outstanding bag and worth to buy. But it lost some extra-ordinary features to improve the design. You do not make something wrong buying this version. The quality is simple worth a wow!
I am a fan of Peak Design's products. Each is thoughtfully designed with just the right Set of feature. Straps are interchangeable for carrying cameras, tripods, or small bags. Their camera Capture Clip attaches to back pack straps, your pants belt, and all of their bags. Clever, and it solves the problem of getting your camera out, quickly, when out on a shoot. Every product comes with a thoughtful instruction booklet that covers features and their proper use. There are also instructional videos for most products. Materials and craftsmanship are outstanding and customer service, responsive. I use their Field Pouch for my wallet, glasses and mask, their Everyday Messenger for a camera and lenses and their Everyday Backpack when traveling, or when I need more space. I could not be more satisfied with Peak Design's products.
