Kettle stopped working after 3 months

I don’t usually write reviews, but I made it a point to for this product. My main gripe? It stopped working after 3 months of SPORADIC use.
My husband gifted this to me for mother’s day and we have used it maybe twice a week since then. It completely died on July 27th.
Followed all care instructions, and tips provided in the booklet. Base will only display an error message and the entire unit will not work. Absolute waste of money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nice Gooseneck Kettle with Poor Steam Vent Design

This kettle works very well - Quality materials, simple controls, heats up quickly and well controlled pours. The steam vent is made into the kettle's lid, so aviod steaming the handle you have to be very careful how the lid is placed onto the kettle. The obvious solution is to make the steam vent into the kettle's body..

Not worth the money

The kettle does its job: it's a gooseneck kettle with temperature controls and a keep-warm option, so that's nice. But there are some design flaws that have gotten frustrating after a year of ownership of a rather expensive piece of equipment.
- Touch sensor buttons are not a good choice for a kitchen appliance. It's also not super intuitive. I don't have a problem turning it on and setting to the desired temperature, since I read the manual. But I have to instruct guests how to use it because it's not apparent without guidance.
- The way the lid is designed funnels all the steam out at an angle, so you need to line it up correctly when you pour or else the steam will vent on your hands when you pour. There's an arrow on the lid indicating how to align it, but it's faded over the year that I've had this kettle.
- The kettle wobbles in the base.

I am a tea bag gal. My husband does gong fu style tea brewing. The pour is great into his tiny 150ml (averaged) tea pots. We like the Cuisinart Gooseneck water kettle. Two things could be improved. The MAX line in the kettle should be opposite from the handle for easy reading, as it is you have to twist your wrist and the kettle around to read the MAX line. It was difficult to wrap the excess cord under the base, and were surprised how little would fit in the base. All the other features work quite well. We like the lid design better than our old OXO kettle (OXO’s rubber gasket failed). 3 yr warranty is great.

Overall, this is a good kettle. It has a liter capacity which nicely accommodates my pour over coffee carafe. It heats quickly and maintains temp well. Easy to use. I wish the digital readout was an individual degree readout rather than grouped in five degree increments.
