[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this machine to replace an aging Alienware M17R4. I would have to say it definitely covers what I need it for, and with a battery that lasts 3-4x longer than any Alienware to date. When thinking of which product to purchase I had to find something that could run my design software well as well as have good battery performance. This ticked all boxes needed plus some. Now if I were purchasing for gamin alone I would move down the Legion line but for business and work related needs this is the desktop replacement you have been wanting. Battery Performance on heavy workload: 3-4 hours, streaming: 11+ hours. Overall Performance on main power: The system usage nominal and kept cool running SoftPlan/2020/AutoCAD/SketchUpPro all at once on the Lenovo TB dock with 3 monitors and music in the background. Granted you should never have it all running at once, but hey this is a Lenovo... it can handle it. As for games: I was able to throw every game I own at it with no issues whatsoever. This includes MSFS2020 in the list...though it ran best on mid-tier with the 3 monitors, maxed on fewer. This is a limitation of the dock and not the laptop I feel though.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With these P17s, so much depends on your configuration. Overall, the laptop runs steadily, feels nice to type on, does not slide across the table--just sits sturdily. A lot of reviews mention that it's too heavy to take with you. I could see that if you were taking public transit and need to carry all of your things long distances, otherwise, I have no idea what people are complaining about. Just pick it up. I wish the manufacturers hadn't swapped the function and control keys -- annoying. I understand those can be reprogrammed to switch back. I'll probably end up doing that. The processor I chose was somewhere in the middle. Do wish I'd gone for the Xeon, although the price would have suffered. Opted for the nicer screen. The display is amazing. Got the 1 TB SSD. That's great so far. Also got 64G memory. Works well. Very happy with my purchase. If you can swing the faster processor, I'd recommend that.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
