[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice unit - great for eventual expansion but I wasn’t as impressed with the startup time as I thought a mobile workstation would have - especially since it comes stock with an NVME drive
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I waited extra long for Customs to approve my PC from China and the Shipping process wasn't so fun. I then got my PC with bad RAM. I was sent new RAM next day to install and ever since, great PC!
Some really cool software exists and Webcam tracking which goes great with the software thay has privacy tools, move the mouse to the screen you're looking at and returns to the original spot when you previously looked.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros: - Stays cool because it's so thick. - Sturdy like a brick - Has the higher-powered laptop processor
Cons: - Stays cool BECAUSE it's so thick - Sturdy like a BRICK
Seriously, this thing is designed like an early 2000's 17" laptop; it is 1.31" thick! I know it is not as expensive, but it has the same components as some of Lenovo's other 15" laptops that are only 0.74" thick. Yes, I'm talking about the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3. But this laptop has 2 more inches in diagonal width to work with anyways, doesn't need the carbon fiber top and has all the same components, even the Quadro GPU is almost on par with the X1 Extreme Gen 3 offerings. We're paying a premium already for a P-series laptop, why in this day and age is it 1.31" thick? The pictures do not do it justice on how thick it is. Luckily my client bought a different maker laptop, with similar specs, cheaper, and only 0.7" thick. Yes, the P17 is sturdy and performs well, but there is no excuse for why this is so thick. Those thinking their "toughbooks" are thick because they can be dropped, no this does not compare and if there were some other advantage than "better cooling" I could see why it was designed this way. It's not even particularly quiet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love how fast and powerful this workstation is! My only complaint is just how heavy it is compared to my old HP laptop (about 9 pounds!) but I realize this is meant to be a workstation more than just a laptop. The screen is beautiful and the customizations and features are great. I'm still figuring out everything that is has. I use this as a professional photographer and it runs my Adobe products with ease.
A well built machine like my previous ThinkPad P71

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The P17 is well built and sturdy like all the previous ThinkPads that I've had. It's runs really smooth and performs well. One big difference I noticed from my previous ThinkPad is that the fan doesn't stay on consistently, It will only turn on occasionally in bursts. I think this is probably because of the cooling enhancements that they had designed for this model. There are subs at the bottom that gives 1/8 inch space between the laptop and the table. So that probably helped. My main gripe with this model is that laptop is not as expandable as previous models. It only has 2 slots for SSD, which is 1 less NVME 2and 1 less SATA slot from the previous model. Another change that bothered me a little is the removal of the click buttons below the touch pad. I used them a lot with my previous laptop and this change made it a little awkward to use for me. Overall great product. Battery life is amazing. I c1an easily get 4 - 5 hours of use.
