[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finally received my new made-to-order P17 and I love it! Its a beast - but exactly what i wanted. Its lightning fast and big and beautiful!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The clarity of the large screen, along with the powerful engine, makes my workday a vastly-improved experience, every single day. As an architect, this Lenovo gives me the tools to make visualizations during the course of design seem like child's play.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The P17 laptop was a gift from my husband to replace 8 year old Dell Inspiron. The laptop is used for work and home photo and video editing. While office applications do not require the power this PC has to offer, definitely, it is a pleasure when the systems responds almost immediately. Talking about video/photo editing. These programs benefit having super charged processor, extra memory and SSD NVMe disk. I need to mention a possibility to upgrade later: - there are 4 slots for memory, now only 2 taken; - there are 2vslots for SSD, one is taken at the moment. These thing will gets cheaper and more affordable in the future. Consider this laptop a good investment especially if you run CPU-intensive/memory hungry apps.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Even my 16-gig-RAM model is a powerhouse for my work. And unlike most current laptops now -- including even the once-user-upgradable, once-tanklike Thinkpad T line -- the CPU, SSD drives (there's room for 2), and RAM (in 2 locations, one under the keyboard and the other, more accessibly, especially when working in the field, under the bottom) are not soldered, for easy boosting of future performance. This configuration's antiglare display with 500-nit brightness (200 above the default) means great readability in bright sunlight. At almost 8 lbs this is the new Thinkpad tank, with its fan noisy when the processor works its hardest. But for high performance, it can't be beat. The case is not as finely machined as those of my past Thinkpad Ts and Xes: the keyboard bezel's plastic feels flimsy, and the seam of mine irritates the skin of the wrists, cut to too sharp an edge, without any beveling for the most comfortable possible typing. Aside from that, I love this.
As an engineering student I needed a lot of computing power in tandem with a high resolution monitor and the ThinkPad P17 fulfills these requirements beautifully. It runs programs such as AutoCad and ArcGis Pro much faster and cleaner than my old machine. Highly recommended for anyone needing to run big programs efficiently. The 17 inch screen with it's high quality graphics card allow complex images to be rendered in crystal clear detail. Graphic design and gamers would not be disappointed by the display.
