Backlight Not Working & Fan Issue

The laptop looks and feels great aside from 2 flaws.
1. The backlight keyboard doesn't work.
2. The system fans go on full blast when I try charging the machine. Even if the system is on standby and no applications are being run, the fans will skyrocket when plugged in.
I think this may just be a manufacturing flaw and am currently contacting the seller to send me another unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
