5g always cuts out along with the 2g cutting out every day at random times. I even returned mine and got another because I thought I just got a defective one but the same thing happened with the new one. I went back to netgear and haven't had issues since.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unfortunately it s dead in the water. I'm running 100mps on CAT 5 but the Router is only putting out 8mps. I'm going to have to replace it.

Best router I’ve owned. Recommend this to everyone. Fast and reliable. I have it hooked up to a net gear cm1200 and have had no issues. I also love the setting to change frequency. My Astro a50s were having signal loss on all my other routers. Soon as I turned on that setting. I can use my a50s again. I love this router. I’m using it with Comcast gigabit and I get full gigabit speed on lan. 600 on wifi.

Installation was easy with the ASUS Router app! Works well in my split level house. I replaced three access points with the GT-AC2900. I have my smart speakers hooked up to the 5GHz router and no more microwave interference!!!YEAH!!! Good performance at a very reasonable price. I am very happy with this unit!
