It helps a lot working through the complexities of today's taxes. I don't have any unusual tax issues but it does help with capital gains and deductions. Some explanations or clarifications are missing or not clearly described. The federal 1040X is useful. The Maryland 502X is not supported. I gave up with that when I tried to use the actual Maryland form. PLEASE update your Maryland tax package to include the 502X!
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to install

Started this return in April but hit a major snag in researching cost basis of stock transactions. Filed extension. Block's Basis Calculator came through when other packages, preparers and expert failed. Thanks you! Saved me about $2,500!
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare

Needed: more help with K-1 Schedules

I invested in ETFs that I get K-1 . I am still not familiar with this and I would like to see HRBlock come up with more comprehensive help with K-1 online so that I don't need to see a tax adviser in person locally. I literally surrendered to the in·tri·ca·cy of K-1 rules wondering what I may be missing out ... There is countless ETFs that deal with K-1 schedules and I think it is about time that HRBlock start tackling ETFs . , ETNs, and other similar vehicles for all that matters..

Automated previous year AGI input

Would recommend that you prompt user with question when did you file previous year's return. If post December 9, the AGI needs to be changed to $0 instead of default automated input.

Need to let software work with older printers

Please make this software work with older printers. I have a Dell B1160w printer that works fine with most programs, but I could not print out my forms from your 2016 software. I had to go to a newer printer to get a printout.
Cons: Hard to fix issues, Hard to import

Purchased earlier this year. Filed an extension in April. Tried to complete 2016's filing before 10/16 deadline. However, required updates would never resolve issues. Had to file a "Draft Form - Do Not File" and never could gain access to the state filing. As a long time user of your software (over 10years), this is a very disappointing experience. Unfortunately, this is not the first time. I am forced to reconsider my loyalty.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I tried to check the status of my efile and was sent in an endless loop to check my hr block efile status check, then fill in my personal info and then back to the hr block efile status check again.
Cons: Time consuming
Pros: Easy to install
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
