Filed Fed with Errors Deluxe didn't catch,Amended

I bought H&R Deluxe and it did not catch errors that my SS pmand recorded from my W-2s did not have excess SS taxes but numbers of what I paid were transferred to excess SS paid. This resulted in my e-filing a return that claimed I was due thousands of dollars in a refunded when in Fact I owe $3,000. But the software to Amend a return was not available until a future update. I am so disappointed that it did not catch the error and that the software I was sold did not include the ability amend the Fed Return before the refund I did not deserve was deposited in my account and I do not know how to give back the refund I do not deserve.
Pros: Easy to import
Cons: Hard to fix issues, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

your 2016 AGI + Sign Your Federal Return

Your 2016 AGI: You state: Since you filed with us last year, we've already entered this for you. IT WAS NOT ENTERED though I filed with you last year. Took me awhile to figure it out since the IRS rejected my Return. I thought that the AGI amount was hidden!
Sign Your Federal Return: By creating a 2017 PIN, you're signing your return and agreeing to the e-file disclosure document. PIN (empty box) any 5-digit number. I thought you wanted a brand new number vs. using every year the same 5-digit number. This is very confusing!

You sent me the CD in the mail, when tax time came around I loaded it to my pc, my wife threw the package away.....when I went to file with the free E-file I called and received a new code. Entered it twice and both times it was rejected......ended paying to file !!
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
Cons: Hard to fix issues

Poor system of having forms

I was unimpressed with the fact that H&R Block did not have the forms ready to submit almost a month ago. For IE: additional child tax credit forms. Why weren't they ready. I couldve gotten my refund checks 2 weeks ago.

I've used Block tax software for many years with generally satisfactory results. Not this year though, when I really needed clarity and accuracy to cover a major merger-related capital gain I expected to be mostly covered by carry-forward tax losses. Some of these carry forward losses had been used in prior year filings without problems. On several occasions this tax year I spent an inordinate amount of time searching and/or attempting to correct data inputs or searching for minor check boxes not checked. Sure didn't appreciate Block prefilling a data box incorrectly resulting in an IRS efile rejection. My MA filing, always a bit inscrutable, could sure use some background factoids to better explain what the numbers mean and how derived. In summary H & R seems less intuitive than it used to be. I'm not sure I will use this software next year.

There is a glitch in the software that does not let you make more than one adjustments to interest income. For example, if you have bond premiums (reported in the 1099-INT (Box 11)) and accrued interest you can only claim one adjustment and not both. Now I'm going to have file an amended return because of this.

Massachusetts State Software is not working proper
