Fast and Easy to Use

I used Turbo Tax for several years. However, this year I tried HR Block. HR Block was more user friendly. I am happy I switched.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Easy to import, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Paid too much. The features I wanted didn't work.

The IRS instructions wanted me to put a word in a column which H&R had as date only. Could not override. Tried to access a feature which used the web. Page appeared after minutes - it was blank. Never got it to work.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to fix issues, Hard to prepare, Hard to import
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Horrible state programs

I have used the federal and my local state software for years, and had no issues. This year I had to file in several states, but the various state programs were expensive and had no real direction to them. I had to spend hours on the sate websites looking up instructions, and even then it was confusing. I found I had to constantly find the various forms and manually fill them out. I will use other software in the future.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

IRS Reject: Error on return. Solution: Review return and fix error. Not happy I had to look at every page to fill in 1 blank. Would have been nice to know what form needed attention.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Easy to import

OUTSTANDING AS ALWAYS

My business and my family have been using H&R block software for over 10 years. H&R has continued to make it's self-employed package intuitive and easy to use. Keep up the good work.

Problems this year

The program was fairly simple to use, but.... Upon use somewhere in the program, one of the w2 filings was removed at the end. We then had to do an amended 1040X. When this was completed, the program indicated $0 owed or refund, yet the tax documents indicated we owed taxes. Now we don't know which is correct, so we paid anyway.

Not so good!

I have used H&R Block, and its predecessor TaxCut for many years, since home computer based tax packages first came out. This year's version is by far the worst. I wanted to file an extension. After putting in the information I had, and estimating the others, I tried to print the form for mailing. The software is unable to find my printer, so I printed in to a pdf file, which I still couldn't print. So I tried to file electronically, but it kept asking me to check and recheck the same data. Asked for my drivers license info twice.
