Good overall package

I have been using H&R Block Tax software for years. It is a good overall package, especially the Federal package. There are a few short falls:
- Not intuitively obvious how to enter some slightly out of the ordinary items like: Contribute to Traditional IRA and immediate convert to Roth IRA, and use a different depreciation method for Real Estate
- The State packages seem to have less through review, and therefore sometimes you are asked non-obvious questions.

Great alternative to TurboTax....

This is a great alternative to Turbotax. I have using it for the past 3 years (including current year). The only pain in entering / importing K1 forms. It is not as intuitive as other forms are
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to import

I downloaded it from the disk they sent me and the program is nothing but trouble. Shuts down without warning; you lose whatever you have entered; calculations keep changing so you wonder whether anything is correct when you get to the end.
will never use again. I have used in the past and it worked fine, but no longer. Someone has really messed this software up.

Very Thorough

Instructions throughout the program are great and explain what to do at each point. My only complaint was that it wouldn't let me enter "04/18/2017" as the input for my first quarterly estimated tax payment even though that is what is in the 2017 Form 1040-ES. Instead I had to input "04/15/2017."

I had to go to both state and federal sites for additional forms not included in the tax program Federal form # 8606, and MI state form MI1040H. Because of this I could not file electronically.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have been using the software for at least 7 years now. I never have any issues with it. It is easy to follow.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast

When I make entries, I often have no idea where HR Block enters them on my return -- if they enter them at all.
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Hard to fix issues
