I've used H&R Block software for many, many years. Easy to use and thorough.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

Aesthetically buggy, but easy to use.

This year (FY2021), the SW found to be buggy - from aesthetic point of view. I hope there is no Financial bug in the software. But, seeing aesthetic bug reduces confidence in the SW.
Pros: Easy to prepare

So many issues with this product I don't know where to begin. Go see a real tax pro, not H and R block software or offices.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare

I switched to H&R Block 3 years and have been so happy with the clear explanations, clean formatting and especially the review. This year I forgot my real estate taxes and the program caught it - I went from owing to getting a refund! woot!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

We have been using H & R Block programs for our small business taxes for several years now. The reason we keep going back is because the program is so user friendly. It breaks down the tax laws into bite-sized, understandable questions that guide you to an informed and knowledgeable accounting of your finances. Plus, as you use it year after year the program recognizes past versions and saves you time by inputting the information automatically for you. We now have a daughter who is old enough to file her taxes this year and we immediately purchased and used the Basic program with her.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

Did it's job... painfully

I've used this product to do my family's taxes for years. My wife and I both run small businesses, and it works great. Unfortunately, this year's software was really unstable on my Mac. While it got me through my taxes, it crashed almost constantly, to the point where I started saving after every line I entered. At one point, my file got corrupted, and I had to reinstall the software and start again from scratch. The software does a great job walking through tax forms, but it really was a struggle to use this year. Hopefully that gets fixed before next year.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

OK For 1040 Simple Tax Filing

I have used H&R Block before, and this tax preparation software is good for 1040 filing if you just have a job. If you have rental property, H&R Block have its limitations compared to TurboTax. If you have Passive Activity Losses, TurboTax would auto-do the forms fill out. In H&R Block, you are left to fill out the Passive Activity Losses long hand (manual); this is a bit cumbersome and not so user-friendly. I would rather pay a little bit more for TurboTax to cover the Passive Activity Losses.

Tax program

Took all day to do, didn’t have a form I needed had to hunt on web for it, then no instructions on attaching form. Once finished with robot chat followed directions uploaded form and I don’t think it got attached to my taxes.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
