Getting Better

After I got about 1/5 through my federal returns I had to quit and come back the next day. When I returned, it did a software update. After that, it was broken. The window that showed the status of my amount due or owed was never updated again. I could not tell how much in taxes I was saving by contributing to a SEP IRA, an HSA, or trying out different methods to see which one resulted in paying less tax. This was a major disappointment, in that, I was left to guess. When I got to the end, I could see the new net tax owed on a document page but that "status window" never changed and was different than the end result page. I had no way to determine if it was worth contributing to various tax-deferred accounts. Or, how much it actually saved me in taxes. It was frustrating. I also like to see an "Effective Tax Rate" page when I complete my return. It's quite useful information to compare years. Is there a way to do this in H&R? Turbo Tax does it automatically.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

It’s OK

I have been used HR Block tax software for several years. But they are not improved much. For examples: when you click next, it will skips few steps; another problem is when I tried to delete previous forms or information, website disconnected. It happened 3-4 time when I was preparing tax return. I had to save frequently to prove t data loss. Other then that, their price are pretty reasonable.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

E Filed Okay, but cannot get the forms to print

Major disappointment. I could efile but formatted tax forms would not print correctly. Software super sized the forms so only a segment could print on the page. Customer Service could not fix the problem. This was a major fail for a fundamental step.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Crashed Multiple Times. Failed to Save Data

I have happily used this software and its predecessors for years. This year it crashed repeatedly. It failed to save data repeatedly, even when I tried manual saves in between the one-minute setting. Running through depreciation accounts was inexplicably slowed this year by a silly counter that recalculated the first of my many depreciation accounts each time I did the mandatory approval of my other depreciation accounts.Its error-checking was inaccurate. I gave up on the interminable wait for phone support. And, when i went to give the requested feedback on the program at the end, it refused to send the feedback, saying - incorrectly - that I had failed to answer all the questions posed. I am saddened by the experience, which makes it difficult to continue have confidence in the accuracy of this software as a tax-prep tool.

Have used your SW for 14 years, have frequently wished I could print a screen display that is a written narrative or part of a form without having to print the entire form and in fact some narrative pages are unprintable... so I recommend that you in the future include a print "current view/page display "option possibly as a PDF (?). Also noticed this year that final instruction left off requirement to add 6th 1099R....oversight or error?.

Tells me i need to fill out a form-- i do it then it says i need to fill it out-- so i cant efile.. endless loop of garbage.. Last time i will use this software.

Easy and organized

I like this interview process as it helps me organize my tax file. It imports last year info which saves me time and this reminds me of my accounts I reported in prior years. The 2021 version does not allow printing single pages within a section. In the past when my printer misprinted, I could simply reprint that particular page rather than all the pages of the particular form.

ez to file, but a little confused on the installment feature when e-filing.....hope I'm not getting whacked the whole 9 yards at once
