I kept loosing my return.

The is the first time I purchased a download H&R Block package. I’ve used H&R Block Tax Siftware from CDs for at least 10 years. I entered my tax return and saved it. Came back two days later to check it and print it. The file wouldn’t open. It gave me an error that the program needed updated. I tried updating the program but there weren’t any updates so I had to re-enter the entire return. Thankfully I finished both the state and federal returns, printed them and filed them electronically. I went back in tonight to print the acceptance stays and again the file from yesterday won’t open. I’m getting the same error.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

RENTAL FAILURES

A new failure appeared in this years version for Rental Property. This time it failed to carryforward the Cost Basis for 2 out of 3 rental properties for the Depreciation of Rental Property
Once again the programmers are too lazy to carryforward the Prior Year Depreciation Method even though they copied all the other data, except above. While this may not be an issue for the Building Depreciation when you have a large schedule of items for Improvements that need to be depreciated it's very annoying to have to open last years return and find the corresponding information manually.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

As always, it seems like a great product

I have been very happy with this product. I've used H&R Block Tax Software for years.
The only concern I have for 2021 is: I e-filed my Grandson's Taxes, Fed rejected 1st submission. H&R indicated State e-file would be held until Fed e-file was accepted. I corrected Fed and re-e-filed. IRS accepted. The software apparently submitted his Montana e-file return twice and I'm billed twice for that filing. That's the only reason "Clear Instructions" have a lower rating.

Works Reasonably Well But Needs Improvement

Most straightforward and common things are handled well, but some things need improvement. Some explanations were vague and unclear. I had to go to the actual IRS forms and instructions for a clearer explanation. The software does not support form 8606.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Hard to prepare

Needs a facelift.

After about 20 years,I long to see a more interesting and intuitive graphic user interface. It's a sure sign that there's interest in improving the program. The ACCURACY REVIEW process is sometimes lazy. E.g. it gives cumbersome instructions to go the "Take-Me-To" menu to edit the Health Care form instead of presenting the form. Still can't print a screen shot at will, e.g. a tax-summary. Ability to scan in standard W-2 and 1099 forms should by now be standard.
NEEDS SOME CAPTIVATING REDISIGN TO KEEP LOYAL CUSTOMERS.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to import documents

Good Product

I've used HR Block tax software for several years, and over all it has performed well. But when I save the file as PDF at least twice during that process it says, "Not Responding", but it does save. This has always been one of the weird parts of this software.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming
I would recommend this to a friend!
