I have been using various forms of H & R Block for over 10 years.Federal is easy to complete. California forms need some work. The Forms for Health coverages and the Form for Resident/Part Year Resident really need some re-doing , hard to decipher. When I called H&R, they are not helpful about it, and neither was Covered California.
Pros: Maximizes refund, Fast
Cons: Time consuming

H&R Block disappointed me two years in a row

Filed 2020 taxes using the software and had large tax bill. Then received a check back, because I overpaid.
Filing 2021 taxes and had to enter 1099div manually because H&R Block couldn’t allow online download of Schwab accounts. They used to, but not this year. Even after updates. Took several tries to submit the final tax return.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

very poorly designed software

questions asked are not clear, feel like I did nothing but go in circle. Supposedly imports last years taxes, but does not any depreciation information on assets or show previous years Schedule E rentals. Rejected my e-file, said did not match 2020 AGI, but showed the exact amount the was accepted by the IRS. Nothing but a headache.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Tax Software

I have been using the software for over a decade now. It only gets better every year. I purchased the software to file my own tax returns, my families, and friends. Thank you, H&R Block for the ease of use and accurate returns for all these years.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

I have been using this for years. I see no reason to switch. I especially like the download 1099 features! So easy.

I originally bought the Deluxe version but soon discovered that one of my 2021 transactions would require additional forms and help. Once again I was pleasantly surprised at how thorough the instructions are. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Using successfully for years

I'm very happy with this software. I find it more thorough than free online filing versions. This software has great explanations and updated information that I would otherwise surely miss.
