I have been using H&R Block for years and it’s always done well by me. Unfortunately this year a glitch in the importation of my W2 information almost left me owing over $750 on my state taxes, rather than receiving the $128 refund. The problem was it failed to pick up on the local Indiana taxes I had paid on my W2. I was able to go back into the imported W2 and correct the errors, but in the future I’ll be entering that information manually.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents

I will not be using any tax program again. The stimulus check credit messed up my taxes so I am probably going to have to do a addendum. I will use a cpa the next time

It's a great tax preparation software, but is having trouble keeping up with new asset classes. The software almost completely lacks support for reporting on crypto currency capital gains. Also, the wizards should have more information to define exactly what is wanted. For example, house/rent deductions aren't immediately clear they want 12 months of costs, not 1 month's rent

Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

Easy to use with question and answer format along with topic help and search functions guiding me through our tax prep. We have used year after year and prior year basic information auto populates and financial data can be imported. Premium handles all aspects of our income, including self employment well. E-filing option makes submission simple including setting-up automatic payments or refunds to bank accounts. Fastest way we've found to get refunds which typical come within days or a couple weeks at most. We believe there is an advantage to having the HR Block name on our submission as well and knowing if there ever is a problem we have the HR Block Guarantee to fall back on.
