The question/answer format makes it very easy to input data, and the filer does not have to know in advance what form it will be used. That being said, once the data is entered, it is easy to go back to questionable responses to find out their effect on taxes. Finally, if the filer uses the Block software from one year to the next, data is moved forward and entered into the current year's forms. Complicated things that carry forward from year to year are captured and entered for the new tax year.
