The software program runs well but if you run into problems with figuring our why your data isn't accepted there is no support unless you pay for it or go into one of their offices. This year i had two businesses and 4 vehicles and the program gave me fits to figure all out

I have used this product for 10 years and it has been flawless. I always pay extra for the disk but this year the disk didnt work. So I called Tech Help and they were GREAT!!!! They walked me through the download and stayed on the phone with me until it was successfully on my computer. Best Tech Experience of any company! Regarding the Tax Program, they make complex situations easy “that even a Caveman can do”! The Program easily calculates Depreciation on rental property and even multiple depreciation for different property items. Regarding self employed businesses, the Program calculates every conceivable legal deduction; many more that the obvious. Added thousands in my case. The Program also has its copyrighted and IRS accepted Deduction Pro with has the IRS accepted market values of every possible property item for charitable donation. This becomes your documented evidence of IRS accepted values for your property donations. This Program in itself is worth the price of the entire Program. Also, this was the first time, I imported last years return and that cut my completion time in half and avoided data input errors that I could have made. No chance of including items no longer applicable as Program shows you your inputs in each section and allows you to edit or delete them. At the end, there is an Accuracy Check that points you to possible errors and takes you to the specific place to fix them, as well as an Audit Check to determine probability of an Audit and what to do to fix it. E-File is a breeze with built in status update. Completing a State Program is included and seamless from the Federal Program. I rate the Program “A++”.

Software would be far more functional for older users, if it had a zoom feature (100% to 120%). Text & numbers are too small @ 100% for me.

H&R Block makes filing your own taxes easy. Even with a rental property and needing to attach extra forms they just walk you right through it. Even if you should have extra forms at the end for whatever reason, their search is pretty easy to figure out what the form is. I also love the promise to help if an audit should come up. I haven't compared extensively with other products but the couple that I did double check on, h&r Block either had a higher or equal return to the other product.

Everything is easy to understand and so long as proper record keeping is practiced, even complicated returns are a breeze to complete in a reasonable amount of time. This year, some of the glitches I encountered in prior years have been resolved. I only give it a 4 because I believe nobody is perfect!

I've used H& R Block software for about 10 years, if not more. That is a statement in and of itself regarding the overall excellent quality of the experience. However, occasionally there is some modest glitch - usually involving a state program. Sometimes the resolution is only possible with a call to the help center. In these rare cases, staff has always been responsive and helpful. I will purchase the software again in future years.
