BEWARE of hidden charges!!!

I was well aware of the steps required to avoid paying extra for filing state taxes. Little did I know that I would have to pay an EXORBITANT "convenience" fee for choosing the "pay by credit card" option! When paying by credit card, you don't pay when you file, but after your return is accepted. THAT is when you learn about this fee! THEN it is too late to do anything else except mail a check!
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund

show the actual irs form

when you go to a form it shows the work sheet. There should be a way to pull up the actual irs form.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Disappointed in 2018 software & state returns

I had state returns for CO and IN (non-resid) to file for 2018. The software calculated an IN liability that included a county tax, which non-residents do not owe. I had to manually complete the IT-40PNR and send in, to save $3000+ dollars this year. I also filed my CO return after I'd filed the Federal electronically, and the software would not then allow me to file the CO electronically. So, I had to print the CO return and all 1099s, etc., and mail in today, along with a trip to the post office. Lastly, K-1 questionnaires created issues. Very disappointed in 2018 product.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

You need work on the state of california adjustment forms. Return was rejected because the 3801 worksheets weren't right. You provide no walkthrough on them. The forms themselves say they dont need to be sent yet I found no place to disconnect them in the software so they didnt send but the actual form sends correctly with the data from them.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

Gets the job done

Was able to do my own tax returns and e-file for both federal and state. Was able to go back and make changes with confidence, even at the last minute.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

I used this software to e-file both my California and Federal taxes. Then I mailed the checks in. Several hours later I got a message that the IRS had rejected my return. Then about a half hour after that I was informed that my California return was not being accepted until the issue with my federal return was resolved. I had to wait till Monday to call the IRS. They said that the issue was probably a software issue and the the problem was not theirs but the software I used for the return. So I had to take the day off from work and mail in a manual copy. So there I am in long lines at the post office already having paid for the software and paid for e-returns, and missing work.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
