I have been using H&R Block software for many years. I find it to be very comprehensive. I Find it easy to understand, but my background in business and accounting may account for some of my grasp of that understanding. There are, however, abilities to access help through the software for those who lack some knowledge. I cannot comment on those additional services that are available, since I have not had the need to use them.
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had an open case since late December and it is still not resolved, I am spent hours with every level of HR Block support and am still waiting. Software cannot run on my desktop (but does on laptop).
Last call was over a month ago - they said they would research and get back.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

I like being able to import 1099 forms, so I was disappointed that I was unable to import Merrill Lynch documents. Other than that, the program seems to be accurate and easy to use.

It does the job. But if, for whatever reason, you need to do something other than just fill in the fields it presents to you, if can be hard to track down the correct process. And having the software released with a bug that prevented e-filing until it was patched, for a situation that wasn't new... that was an unforced error.

Code programming and bugs gotten worse and not planned well. Poor leadership….crappy software now and Turbo Tax worth it at double the cost not to deal with subpar product.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
