Most things were good, bur there were a few issues.
1) Adding a 1099-S was not clear and did not work as expected, I had to change numbers in various places until the checker accepted it, I'm still not sure if it is correct.
2) The medical form 1095-A had some zeros in the last two months in column B. The checker would not let me file with zeros there, so I had to add numbers to make it accept, this is probably wrong.

I have used H&R Block tax software for the last 7 years and never had an issue. the program makes DIY tax prep easy. The software includes all the forms for my different income streams and deductions. The cost is less than half of what I was paying to have my taxes done by a CPA. Great product.

The product demands updates before I file extending into March. Reason given is bogus and allows me to file anyway. The updates on a MAC rarely work within the program. I have to download them seperately and then tun the installation. In some cases it is not clear where to write off farm expenses. Example a land renter sends me a 1099 but if I use it I can't write off farmland insurance, taxes, utilities, etc.
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The program is easy to use, but as an independent contractor, I find it unhelpful that you can only purchase 3 state programs. I have to do all my other state taxes by hand!

The only problem I've had (and I've had this every year) is how to post 1099-NEC forms onto Schedule C. The program forces you to use the interview and I cannot complete this using the "Forms" option.

I've used H&R Block software for the passed 6 years. It has worked well. There have been a few times it had better descriptions for some of the entry fields, but overall it's a good software package. I also wish it had a better change history as far as why it made an adjustment to the tax value.
