I've been using H&R Block Premium tax software for years. Overall it's good and it certainly much cheaper than hiring a CPA to do my taxes. I occasionally encounter a minor issue. For example, this year I had forgotten that I had a state Identity Protection PIN to prevent somebody else from filing my taxes. The tax software didn't ask for it, so when I submitted the state form and it was rejected. I eventually determined that I could add it manually in the state form and resubmit. Anyway, I'll continue to use H&R Block tax software in the future.

I HAVE USE HR BLOCK FOR OVER 7 YEARS. THE ONLY NEGATIVE IS THAT IN THE LAST 4-5 YEARS I HAD TO WAIT FOR UPDATES IN ORDER TO EFILE. THE SOFTWARE SHOULD BE READY TO GO AT LEAST BY FEB. 1ST. THAT IS THE ONLY REASO THERE ISN'T 5 STARS*****

30 yrs experience; usually buy at on sale or discounts; cheaper disks or online downloads has never affected quality of product. Started tax return yesterday; finished, emailed and approved both Federal and State today; refunds, both Fed. & State as usual.

H&R Block Amazes Me Every Year A++

Five stars. Would absolutely let it interrogate my financial life again.
I used H&R Block Tax Software Premium this year, and I have to say — it was calm, competent, and mildly judgmental in exactly the way you want tax software to be.
It handled rental income, investments, assorted forms that look like they were designed by a committee of accountants trapped in 1987 — and it didn’t flinch. No drama. No “Are you sure you understand depreciation?” passive-aggressive energy. Just steady, clear guidance and solid explanations when I actually needed them.
What I appreciated most:
• It explains things without talking down to you.
• It catches edge cases without making you feel like you’re under audit.
• It runs error checks that feel like a careful co-pilot, not a nervous intern.
• It doesn’t try to upsell you every 14 seconds like you just walked into a used car lot.

The Premium version especially shines if you have rental property, investments, or anything slightly more complex than a W-2 and vibes. It walked through depreciation schedules like it’s done this before (because it has… millions of times).
The math matched expectations. The refund/owed calculation tracked perfectly. No weird rounding mysteries. No “surprise upgrade required to see your own numbers” nonsense.
In a world where filing taxes feels like being graded on a test you didn’t know you were taking, H&R Block Premium felt like having a very patient CPA who works weekends and doesn’t charge by the hour.
Efficient. Clear. Competent.
Exactly what tax software should be.
