Exceptional Pack for the Price

Exceptional pack for the price. I took it on a 9 mile hike in the foothills of the Rockies, and I couldn't even tell I was wearing it. I plan on using it mostly for bowhunting and rifle hunting with some hiking trips also. The polyester exterior is not as quiet as the dedicated "hunting" packs that use a brushed cloth exterior, but for the comfort that it gives, it's well worth it. You will pay much more for the so-called hunting packs. It has has a near perfect amount of capacity for a full day in the mountains, with storage for all your essentials plus jacket, rain gear, etc. It is an exceptionally light pack, which lighten the load on those long hikes. The aluminum stay really helps to vent your back and together with the PE frame sheet transfers the weight onto your hips. I was carrying approximately 20 lbs and almost couldn't tell I had it on on the 9 mile hike. I'm 6' tall with a 20" torso and it fit me very well. The load lifters were functional in bringing the load closer to my body, and while less than the 45 degree angle to the attachment point on the pack (more like 15 degrees) they still functioned as the should. The only thing that is yet to be determined at this point is durability. The construction seems strong, but durability over the long run is the true test. I'll have to report back after hunting season to state how it holds up.
Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, High Quality, Lightweight
It might be a good idea if your company included instructions on how to adjust the backpack for an ideal fit and even possibly how to best fill the pack for optimum space use. I have a lot to learn about my pack that’s for sure. Impressive so far. The true test will be when I take it on the Camino.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was using a 20L pack for my day hikes but it was just too small for me to carry comfortably. If I am going for longer than 2 hours and/or on an unstable path, I'm carrying the 10 essentials as well as a couple of other items. So when I found the 40L pack from High Sierra, I knew that it could replace my day pack as well as be a nice weekender pack when my 55L was simply too large. Although a 40 L pack is really big for day hikes, the ability to cinch the main body tight means that the load won't be shifting around on my back while carrying it. This pack is incredibly comfortable to wear for extended periods and, when properly strapped to fit my body, it doesn't feel that I am really carrying a lot of weight.
Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Easy To Identify, Good Capacity, High Quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got it directly from Sierra after having looked at it at Cabala's. I've only used it for some in town trips to the gym on my bicycle and car, but I love it. I put my shoes in the back compartment and my gym cloths in the front of that compartment and there's tons of room left. There's a small pocket on top for electronics or id's which is handy. Theirs another compartment with pockets that's handy for smaller stuff like toiletries. When its on my back I hardly notice it and when riding bike the waist strap doesn't affect my mobility. It has a handy carrying handle, but the water bottles do fall out when carrying it that way. Finally although the weather hasn't been hot, it doesn't seem sticky on my back. Overall it seems to be of pretty good quality esp considering the price.
Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, High Quality, Stylish
Some people have a shoe fetish ... I have a backpack fetish! Show me a backpack with plenty of nooks, crannies, pockets and pouches and I will be ready to buy. I love that I can carry so much without being completely weighed down. The waist strap is the perfect addition to keep me from feeling like I am carrying too much. It can be slipped under the seat in front of me on a flight while still carrying my laptop safely.
