[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the 3rd rack for silverware and it is so quiet that I am not even sure it is running.

Disappointed about missing features I expected
on October 24, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had 2 previous KitchenAid dishwashers and each one has features I like. My second KitchenAid had rows of times that could be laid down flat and also had some extra features (flip down plastic “shelves” to support wine glasses, but I used them for some plastic items). My most recent dishwasher does not have any of these features, and I was disappointed to discover this. Since I could not view the dishwasher in person before purchasing it I could not tell what I was really getting. The new dishwasher is doing a good job and is very quiet, so I do like it.

Good D/W but new plastic parts not up to the task!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We decided to purchase another KitchenAid dishwasher when our old one that was 12 years old finally gave up. There are some great features on the new machine but there are a couple of significant changes in the materials they used in the new machine compared to the old which don’t work because they are now made of plastic rather than metal utilized on the old machine.
First the postives:
1) I love how quiet the new dishwasher is. The 39 dBA is practically silent which is important with an open kitchen/family room. We hear the occasional swish of water but it is much quieter than our old version partly due to improved insulation. You could see the increase in insulation and sound deadening materials during installation.
2) I also really like the redesigned utensil holder. The small holes that allow the utensils to be kept apart are a well designed upgrade to the new machine. I do wish they had made all the holes the same size as it is a constant game of “will it fit” since some holes are large and some are smaller. It would cause a lot less frustration when loading the utensils if they were all the same slze.
3) We had high hopes for the third rack. It is a fantastic additon to be able to wash lids and other FLAT items. In all honesty, with the 3rd rack we are still learning what items make it useful. The clearance is very low and even a large serving spoon or BBQ tongs don’t fit well due to the low clearance and the curious multi level design of the rack. The rack seems to be designed with nubs for additional silverwear but I would rather have had space for serving utensils, long BBQ tongs and the like.
Now for the negatives:
1) On the old machine the adjustable legs for levelling the machine were metal and screwed into metal. They were strong and were up to the task and couldn’t be damaged while levelling and raising the machine. On the new machine the mechanism for raising/ lowering and levelling the machine uses PLASTIC parts. The plastic parts support the entire weight of the dishwasher and take significant strain when levelling the machine. The plastic threads on the plastic screws were not strong enough to support the forces applied while levelling the machine and SHEARED OFF the plastic threads, thereby leaving the adjustable legs no longer adjustable, and the mechanism to level the dishwasher no longer functional. I was forced to use shims to level the machine. I’m really disappointed that such an important part has been replaced by cheap plastic.
2) Similarly, the kick plate also incorporates plastic (previously metal on the old machine) and the thick metal screws that hold the kick plate in place are screwed into plastic. This plastic is not up to the task and is too soft and after removing the kickplate once or twice the screwholes are now unable to secure the kickplate and the screws just fall out. This is despite the fact that I hand tightened these screws with a screwdriver and was exceptionally gentle and cautious as I knew it was screwed into plastic.
The attempt by the manufacturer to save money by replacing important parts with plastic has resulted in my dissatisfaction with these key parts of the dishwasher and tainted my overall impression of my new KitchenAid dishwasher. I will be very cautious before I purchase a third KitchenAid dishwasher after being a loyal and satisfied customer all these years.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Junk. Malfunctioning right out of the box. I went against my gut instincts because I initially was going to buy a Bosch or Miele, but I bought a Kitchen Aid because it was, “Made in the USA.” Never again.
