Soothing, compact and effective at masking most sounds

I've slept significantly better since getting this particular white noise machine. As an apartment dweller who has loud neighbors and thin walls and ceilings, I'm also able to reduce most of the sound coming from the neighbor by filling my bedroom with the steady, soothing sounds of the Dohm. This device is also great for anyone who has Anxiety that's triggered by sudden loud noises. With the Dohm on, I'm no longer jumpy!
It's lightweight, compact and it blends in well with most room color schemes. I think it could be better by having more noise level options, but it's still decent and I consider it an essential for apartment living, especially one with thin walls and loud neighbors.

Horrible - Quality Gone Downhill

I have owned four Yogasleep products, but the last two that I have received have been defective (fan obstruction). Either the quality has gone downhill or they have been selling refurbished units.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Too quiet to be useful

The sound it makes is so quiet that it serves no purpose. It does not drown out any ambient noises and certainly not any bothersome or loud noises. You're better off using an ordinary fan or a space heater that has a fan. The company was very helpful with my return of the product. Thank you for that.

Just what I wanted!

This is exactly what I was looking for! We have had several sound machines with electronic, looped recordings (even though they promise no looping, it seems there's always looping!) in the past, and they just don't match up to the real sound this machine makes. I also love the absence of that almost imperceptible, but really annoying high pitch those machines with electronic sounds make. Finally, I love how simple this machine is. I gave four stars instead of five because I wish it were a tad smaller so that I could twist the body of the machine to adjust the sound with just one hand.

Doesn't matter how old you are, you need this

I worked in a massage studio that used these to create a stirring, oceanic environment that drowned the noises and voices of L A. I took their best kept secret home for myself. Getting the DOHM is something I wish I would have thought of in college to get better sleep from the start. Now in my late twenties and I'm finding it more important than ever. Do yourself a favor and pick the classic up along with the portable size. I use that one for my dog by her kennel. Gets my golden puppy to sleep no trouble.

VOCs Emitted are Terrible and Runs Hot

I bought this yesterday. The sound this machine produces is a soft whirring sound created by something being whirled around inside it by a motor. The sound is great, and I can see where it can mask any sound. However, what I was not expecting were the VOCs being emitted when I plug it in. Either all these people who leave these great reviews are nose blind, or just don't care about inhaling dangerous chemicals from the plastic it's made from. My young son noticed it first right when I plugged it in. "Oh! It stinks!" he said. I took it into our spare bedroom to run and burn off the smell, for what I thought was a quick fix. An hour later, the whole room smelled, and the darned thing was quite hot from the motor running. I took it our garage to run with the garage door up. The ventilation helped but we don't sleep in our garage. Today, I took it back inside, and ran it in our spare bedroom, hoping the smell would be gone. Still there, just not as strong and it the unit was warm after running for 30 min. That's another great concern, the heat this thing gives off. We would need it to run all night, and since it turns into a little heater, we don't need anything giving off extra heat - at night - in the middle of summer. It's going to be returned today.

So loud it keeps me

So loud it keeps me awake. Big disappointment. Wld have returned, but packaging discarded. Salvation Army donation, I guess.
