A lot has been said about the Medieval Blacksmith and with good reason. Incredible set!
I purchased when it was first released and recently bought a 2nd copy during Lego’s Insiders Event sale. This new copy is going to be an OG parts pack for my castle MOCs 😀
This set is a stunner. Fully detailed interior, great architecture, great minifigs and accessories, a husky, a wagon, and a horse.
This set holds a special place in my Lego cannon for being my first castle set - and gateway to my Lion Knights Castle.
It really is as great as they say and an absolute joy to build, display, and “play” with! Happy building ~
Beautiful display set and very fun build. This set invites customization, from redecorating the roof using your own tiles to many MOC designs that entirely transform it medieval village builds.
Only demerits are for playability due to (1) the modular scale looks totally silly next to other products like the flagship Lion Knights Castle and the Creator 3 in 1 castles, and (2) the odd choice of minifigure heads, such as an elderly man in Falcon Knight uniform. Men of that advanced age would not have been physically fit enough back in the Medieval ages to still be an effective soldier entrusted with important tasks such as weapon deliveries. Both of these detracts from the set's playability score.
I had resisted this one for a while. I did build the Viking Village beforehand and took on this one next. I was pleasantly surprised. There were differently shaped pieces than I have become used to. My one complaint is that Lego still doesn't do trees very well.
As a multiple decade Lego lover and owner of numerous high end kits, I felt it valid to share some thoughts on the Medieval Blacksmith. When completed, this kits is simply marvelous. I’m very thankful that Lego brought this one to us fans from the ideas world. Just looking at it from across a room, one can see its many thoughtful facets of medieval time, that era and style of living. I smile just looking at it. That said, I can not help but say that this was the most difficult kit I’ve ever built. That difficulty comes solely from the awful instruction manual. The print on the pages was NOT sharp and detailed and the colors all seemed to meld together making it almost impossible in some steps to differentiate the parts. I found myself using the photos on the box quite frequently. Other than the poorly drafted instruction manual, this kit is a wonderful addition to my collection.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We're glad to hear this fan-inspired set transported you to an earlier time! The issues with your building instructions sound very out of the ordinary and we're sorry for the frustration. We'd be happy to take a closer look and provide a new copy if needed at LEGO.build/Service-BV and you can always find clear digital instructions at LEGO.build/BI-BV.
