This is a great set, love the extra details to make this historical building. The minifigures are awesome as well, the additional armor and wagon is the cherry on top. Overall this is one of the best Lego sets I have built. Hope to see more historical builds like this one.

I’ve been a Lego enthusiast for more than 25 years and couldn’t tell you how many sets I’ve built in that time. I can say that this medieval blacksmith set is among my top 3 favorite sets all-time including all of the most popular themes. Beautiful and charming design, full of nostalgia for the medieval themes of Lego’s past, and so much more to build than you’d expect. These days, I build one or two sets a year, and I love coming back to Lego after a bit of time has passed and seeing all of the improvements they’ve made. That continuous improvement has been in the company’s DNA since I can remember. For this blacksmith set, what really struck me were the colors and the artistry. The way the designers created a weathered look for the roof, the interior touches, and all of the little hidden surprises are just delightful. And if I’m honest, this set is a very high value as well, given it’s part count and price. That’s a benefit of a model that doesn’t have to cover the cost of licensing (that would be paid to a brand/production studio/etc). I would love to see this set inspire a new launch of medieval sets designed in the same “expert creator” way. Would be an irresistible return to a classic Lego theme, and I know I’m not alone in that!

A Must Have!

This set is stunning! The colors are vibrant and gorgeous and really lend well to the fantasy-medieval style. There are so many details packed into this build on every floor which makes it really feel like a home that these Minifigures could live in!
This set is a must-have for any Castle lovers out there, or for any Lego lovers in general! Here’s hoping we see more medieval themed buildings to go along with this one!

So much fun, exactly what I was hoping for

The medieval blacksmith was an absolute blast to build. I was a Lego Castle guy back when I was smaller and this really hit all of the nostalgia buttons (but I will note if you were used to playing with your Legos on the floor as a kid, the back cramps differently after 30 years, so you've been warned: use a table). In addition to looking great etc., there were techniques that were new to me (some like what you'd see on Lego Masters) that were great to learn too. There were some fun surprises to discover and it is very cool how easily the different floors come apart.
I strongly recommend this set, and would love to see more like it come out.

What More Could You Ask?

We finally get Castle again! Need I say more?
But if I must, then I will. This is a great set. It's the biggest, and in my opinion best, medieval themed set LEGO's ever done. It's not just the size that I appreciate. It's that LEGO took this to MOC level, with the amount of detail and planning in this set. In the first place, there are actually sensible ways for the minifigs to get to the different levels, which most sets in general, not just castle, lack. Also, it's actually correctly scaled to minifigs, which most other LEGO castle themed sets aren't. Speaking of the minifigs, they're awesome. The blacksmith and his wife are fine, but nothing spectacular. However, the Black Falcons are just fantastic, as is their horse. There's really nothing bad about this set. If I want to get really nitpicky, I could say that the apple tree was interesting to build, but from certain angles doesn't look great, and the Black Falcon's cart is fine, but no really that exciting compared to the main blacksmith shop. But if you think about it, those are some pretty pathetic complaints. As another fun bonus, you get a whole pile (~50) of extra pieces, some of which are pretty sweet. All in all, I would definitely recommend picking up this great set.

Quick thoughts:
- The set is SO much better in person. It's huge! And the details look fantastic
- I love the light brick which adds so much to the set
- The side builds are simplistic yet incredibly well thought out. It puts a lot of modulars to shame.
- Minor gripes: The tree is flimsy and I wish there was maybe one more knight
Overall: I love this. It's inspired me so much creatively and I can't wait to expand it with my own kingdom.

To scale or not to scale

The greatest disappointment of this much anticipated set, is the scale. It sits somewhere between Winter Village and the modulars. I found this set extremely difficult to set in my layout. It looks so out of place, it's parts are now in the "free build bag". I am quite disappointed in this.
While I understand the need for the larger scale, it's not conducive to a WV or Modular layout.
