Great features and price

Very classy build with great detailing and awesome working mechanics. A very striking model which proves Lego can produce a great product at a good price point. There was no let down on part count, how it went together and functioned. I know they had a valid reason but I rather wish the windscreen was clear rather than frosted. Highly recommend this kit.

Amazing Little Machine!!!

I have dozens of Lego sets of all varieties and have been building and collecting them for nearly 50 years! This is however my first review.
when I saw this set come up I knew at once I would purchase it and I was in no way disappointed in doing so.
In my estimation it is a great set at a great price point and I highly recommend it.
That being said there is in my opinion one flaw... Good news, it is easily corrected with existing pieces from the set!
The flaw resides in the "curl" function of the bucket which impairs its ability to adequately pick up or maintain a load.
I have attached pictures which hopefully will aid anyone wishing to make the change.
Thanks for reading and enjoy!

Horrible range of motion kills it for me, but...

Fun set with a really great design aside from the bucket which is terribly limited. It's just about impossible to keep pieces in the bucket, even when it's completely curled inward. It also doesn't open very much when fully extended. It's a tragedy.
I partially blame the new bucket design. I'm not not a die hard Technic old schooler by long shot, but this new bucket with the holes inline with each other is all wrong. I believe the designers of this set could have done a better job with the arm geometry, but I'm sure it was much more difficult with this part. The fix is dead simple though: use the old excavator bucket.
The old bucket with almost identical dimensions was found on other LEGO excavators and backhoes from 1992 to 2014. With the 2950 bucket and 3-4 included parts it's a dead simple swap that drastically improves range of motion with no trade offs. Playability goes from depressing to marveling in awe at the engineering.
Find and buy part no. 2950 - "Technic Digger Bucket 4 x 4 x 9 with 3 teeth" available in black and yellow. Move a couple pieces around, put this set on your desk, and never disassemble.
This is a 4/10 set out of the box, 11/10 set with the mod. It's that bad, and that good at the same time.
My photo shows what LEGO designers should have done with the yellow bucket superimposed over their dark gray mistake.
I would recommend this to a friend!
