Vastly Inferior To the Original Version

In 2012 I purchased a BookArc for a 17” MacBook Pro laptop computer. It was made of steel and quit heavy and would stay on the table when I lifted the MacBook up and out.2023 I purchased another BookArc for a new 16” MacBook Pro only because Twelvesouth failed to create new rubber inserts for their previous generation product.This new aluminium BookArc is shorter in length an squatter it doesn’t provide enough space to tuck the power supply under the BookArc with the laptop sitting in this stand.This new BookArc stand is so light weight it clings and lifts off the table when I try to pull the laptop out of the stand. The cut out notches on either end of the BookArc are cut to shallow to allow the AC powder cord to pass under. All the metal edges have on one side the razor sharp burr remnant from the heavy metal stamping those should have been removed filed off. I have and you will cut your self the the razor sharp edge burrs left on this product. The space grey colour is a closer match to my silver laptop the Apples space grey.The 10 year old steel BookArc is a vastly superior product the Twelvesouth accounts have cheapened the design of this product to the point it dangerous and a useless substitute for the original design for the way I used the original with the power brick for laptop and iPad tucked underneath the arc with the laptop mounted in the arc. I am very disappointed with this product and the company that authorized this design.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This vertical laptop holder is just what I needed to get my laptop up and out of the way. My screen is broken so I use this as a “desktop” computer, so this book arc works perfectly for me.

I ordered it about 2 weeks ago and within a week it arrived. It was the second purchase of Twelve South products and it is as good as my previous purchase. It is stable, easy to move around, and keeps my 2023, 14-inch MacBook safe and sound.

As with all TwelveSouth products, the updated BookArc is well built and designed: heavy enough to stay put on my desk and with an impressive fit and finish. I like how the "space gray" color matches that of my MacBook Air. It works almost exactly as I expected it to (more on that in a moment) and has freed up some substantial real estate on my desk. Plus, it's great that, in the event of future laptop upgrades, I can just swap out the rubber insert if needs be, rather than purchasing a whole new stand. My only (very minor!) constructive criticism is that there's just a bit more "play" than I expected in the specific fit of my MacBook Air (late 2020, M1) using the size "F" insert. I anticipated a snug/firm fit, but in practice, there's just a millimeter or two of extra space in the insert opening that allows the laptop to wobble a little, back and forth, as it's being taken in and out of the stand. Perhaps that's exactly what's intended, to prevent the stand from sticking to the laptop as it's being removed. And the wobble isn't enough that I could ever imagine the laptop falling out. But I thought it worth mentioning all the same, since it surprised me when I first set it up.Again, all the same, it's a great product and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, TwelveSouth!
