Low price and high efficiency!

I bought this Frigidaire - FFRE1033S1 unit in June to replace an older unit. This does an excellent job of cooling and comes with such convenient features as a digital display, a built-in timer, a remote control, and insulation for installation. It does a wonderful job cooling my 440 SF NYC studio apartment quickly. There is also a temperature setting to maintain the room temp stready. The only downside is that it is a bit noisy. For the price, I would definitely recommend this as a smart purchase.

This was a replacement for a unit that as I tried to re-place it in the window, fell half a story to the ground... Serendipitous as the unit cools a large front of the house living room (with full sun late in the afternoon...) much better than the previous unit. I like the remote with built in thermometer. The construction is also much better than previous and the design makes placing it in the window much easier. The only comment I would make is that I thought from the purchase page that the unit and the window case were separate (as it's a 10K BTU unit), but in the model I received they are not. Didn't turn out to be too much of a problem as the unit is not any heavier than the 8K unit it replaced.

Cools well, great features

Now that the heat has finally hit here in New England, I'm really appreciating this air conditioner. I honestly don't know how many square ft. my apartment is, but it is on two floors. I installed this in one of the upstairs bedrooms, and with the help of a fan to move the air a bit it cools the entire upstairs easily. It even makes a small but noticeable difference downstairs. I can barely hear when the compressor kicks on. When the fan is on high, it does make some noise, but well within reason. With fan on low, it is actually quite quiet. I do use the "remote sensing" feature most of the time. It makes more sense to me to sense the temperature from across the room than from the unit itself. I always run it in "economy" mode and usually with the fan set to "auto". The only things that remain to be seen is long term durability(I've had it a month), and the impact on my electric bill. I would recommend this A/C.

Great window unit for super hot days

Decided on this model as a supplement to our central A/C. On days when the temps go 95 or above our central A/C can't keep up. This unit is perfect for cooling part of our upstairs to take the edge off.

Best decision ever!

My central air went out and needs replaced. I cant afford it this season, so I bought this Frigidaire window unit. Wow! Frigid air is right! Cools my entire main level of house. And I just got my electric bill....best its EVER been!! EVER! Blessing in disguise :)

Good unit

I bought this unit in May, in preparation for the summer. Our 750 ft^2 upstairs bedroom used to get quite hot, and was difficult to sleep in at night. Trying to cool that space with our central air caused a noticeable increase in our electric bill. No more! This unit cools the entire room quickly, and is quiet enough - on the low fan speed - to sleep next to. It also seems to be quite efficient, as I have not notice much of a bump in our electric bill. It was also easy to install.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this Frigidaire Air Conditioner for about a month. It was easy to install. It works just fine, and my place has been comfortably cool even with the very hot and humid weather we have had this summer. I think it is very efficient in the use of electricity.
