Weak fan

Bought to replace 6000 btu GE. The Frigid aire 10000 does not cool as well as the smaller GE. It is cold but the fan does not blow as hard as the GE and won't cool as large of an
area. Does not give ambiant air temperature, only temperature it is set for.

Oh my! TJ1234, I am dismayed to hear of your dissatisfaction in your new room air conditioner. Your model is rated to cool 450 square feet, and on high will move 285 cubic feet of air per minute. The display on the unit will show the set temperature that has been programed. The only time the display will read the actual room temperature, is when in fan only mode (page 7 in your Owner’s Manual). The remote will display the actual air temperature where it is located (page 9 in your Owner’s Manual), rather than the programmed temperature. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought 2!!!! Heat waves in NYC are a killer. Especially because you pay the price for the view. My windows face the sunset so my apartment get pretty hot. They are amazing. Cools the room off quickly. Most importantly my electricity bill has also gone down. Putting the unit in was simple as well. I'm extremely happy with my investment!!!

Honest piece of equipment

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this 10000 btu a/c about a month ago, or just over. We had wanted to have an extra unit in our living room, because we had just gotten an English bulldog puppy, and the humid high temperature weather, was not fairing well for the little pup. So far the a/c has been very good. All the features seem to have been very accurately explained, and customer service on the company end, was very helpful and considerate. All is all, I would rate it 4/5, only reason being that the filter seems to be a lot of trouble. It is so thin and tiny that it seems to get dirty pretty easily. Other than that, a fantastic product all around. On a side note, the filter problem, could be because of where we live and not necessarily the fault of the design. We are surrounded by farm land, and sometimes a good amount of dust can make its way into our home, the fine particles build up quickly, so honestly - the 4/5 is tending closer to a 5/5. I would recommend this unit to someone, any day if the week. Thank you!

Yikes! Thank you for sharing your room air conditioner review, blue3339. Air conditioners work by removing both heat and humidity. A properly sized unit will remove humidity effectively as it cools. An air conditioner that is too large for the area will cool the room air quickly and shut off the compressor. Air temperature is lowered, but the room humidity remains high. The oversized unit will cycle on and off frequently but the room will feel damp, clammy, and uncomfortable. Perhaps adding a dehumidifier to the area would address the moisture (and resulting mold) matter.
