Disappointed

Pretty disappointed in the company 4moms where our bassinet is from. It’s not even a year old and worked for a couple weeks before it started malfunctioning by glitching and jumping gears. Really loved it when it worked but we definitely don’t feel comfortable turning it on with Oakley in it now. The machine retails for $525 new and the company refuses to replace it for us. Derek tried opening it up after the fact to see if he could fix it to find that it’s made with the cheapest plastic parts you could imagine. Don’t waste your money!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I waited 6 weeks to write this review to try it out because there are so many mixed reviews on this bassinet. All in all, I like it, part of me wished I’d gotten the Halo, or the Graco smart bassinet, but at the end of the day this accomplished what I needed and I’m decently satisfied. So here is my honest review! Short recap at the bottom…
Cons:
Right off the bat the biggest con is the price, it’s very expensive! Luckily it was bought for us… secondly the lights on the panel don’t turn off and it is beyond annoying, even on dim mode the lights on the control panel are stupidly bright. But an easy work around, we covered the panel and use the app to control it. The main reason we bought this was because we’d heard of babies tendency to want to sleep in swings and we hoped that this would allow us to achieve safe sleep with movement. It does that. However our baby seems mostly indifferent to movement, 85% of the time it stays off and still. However, when she’s being fussy it’s so nice to turn it on and see if she will go back to sleep with the movement, she does 50% of the time, I’ll call that a win. Plus maybe our next baby will want movement. I’d rather have it than not… but it’s a lot of money for a still, mesh bassinet… oh well. I do hear some of the noises and clicking other users talk about but it’s not that bad, but maybe because we don’t use it enough. The sound options are good, but for our baby not loud enough, we have a separate sound machine and sometimes I employ both if she is being fussy. It does seem small, and I think she will outgrow it soon but I never thought we’d get much more than 3-4 months anyway.
Pros
The adjustable height and weight limit really sold this for me, we have a lower bed and this was a very helpful feature. And this bassinet had one of the highest weight limits. I’m also glad it turns off after 4 hours, I feel like it aligns with safe sleep practises. I love the mesh, the bassinet is the same height as our bed and I can sleep right next to it and see her. The mattress is good, and the sheet easy to put on and clean, I bought an extra for easy swapping. Some say the mattress is too thin, it is fine, baby sleeps on it just fine, it’s the same as most firm Bassinet mattresses. I find the movement to be very seemless, with good flow, sometimes it jolts to start but I wouldn’t call it an issue. Again with white noise the occasional motor / clicking is a non issue. The bassinet looks nice, modern and sleek (even though it is pretty large). So even though as I mentioned before that we don’t use the movement that often, it’s not an eye sore.
We are off to visit our inlaws soon and I’m actually going to take it with us as opposed to a travel bassinet, so that’s how good I feel about it overall. If it was half the price I’d be beyond thrilled with the bassinet. But the high price like many baby things that end up not achieving the full desired effect, and you only use for a short period of time, is frustrating and makes me hesitate to be 100% convinced it was the perfect choice, but it is what it is… I’m glad I had the option for movement with safe sleep, even though baby seemed indifferent.
TLDR
Bought the bassinet to have movement and safe sleep, our baby doesn’t care much for movement, so it’s a very expensive still bassinet… but when we use the movement it is helpful for a fussy baby at 3am. Love the mesh, adjustable height and weight limit. The control panel lights are bright, we covered them, price is very high
