Cannot e-file with a NRA spouse without SSN

I won't be using this product in the future because it would not let me e-file. My non-resident alien spouse does not have a social security number, and it was not possible write "NRA" in the space for the SSN as the IRS instructions tell you to do. So this raised a flag that prevented e-filing. Bye bye TurboTax.

Had lots of problems this year

I've been a satisfied user of Turbo tax for years and never had a problem. For some reason, something went wrong this year as I had to enter the data three times before getting a good result. Even though the program showed it was entering my 2019 tax file info into the 2020 program, it was not available or not used in the 2020 computations. I didn't notice this until after I had completed 2/3 of the 2020 input. There was no way to enter the 2019 data after the fact, so had to start over. The second effort resulted in the same outcome so I had to enter the requested 2019 info manually by looking at the 2019 tax file. I was not at all happy with the lack of options in the support FAQs or nor was I am to contact the support rep directly to help me correct this problem. Different tax program next year?

overall a great product

My biggest complaint is that if you end up going down a path that ends up being wrong, you now have ghost forms that get flagged during the review. Also, many of the fixes during the review say "enter a value for...." Many times there is no context... how about a quick link to the form so I can review the details of the form that are missing data. And finally, it the e-file section. It lets you complete all the payments, efile verification,etc then at the very end does a review. If the review fails you get thrown back into fix mode and getting back to where you where in the efile is not intuitive. I think it would be best to prevent moving forward with the efile until all issues are resolved.

TurboTax is better than doing it without

I would hate to have to do my taxes by hand! So use TurboTax and am glad of it, but it's definitely not perfect. It seemed harder than ever to import from Quicken this year. TurboTax also froze my (up-to-date) Windows 10 system after one import and another time on exiting it "saved" my file so long that I jhad to terminate it.
