"Maximize 401K" leads to Penalties

After entering 401K contributions, I was prompted to check a box to maximize contributions. The amount I would have contributed was $13K more than allowable and would have led to a penalty. We ended up talking with our financial advisor and that delay led to me not being able to contribute any more $ to my 401K. Due to this mistake, I lack confidence in Turbotax.

Turbo Tax is Still Good

This year the software took certain factors such as stimulus payments into account. For the 2021 version, it would be great to get questions specifically focused on stimulus payments upfront to speed up the process of filing the return.

HAD VERY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE USING TURBO-TAX FOR HOME & BUSINESS. THERE WERE - SYSTEM ISSUES AND OTHER ISSUES AS WELL...... EASE OF USE IS NOT SAME AS PREVIOUS YEARS! IT IS A PAIN TO USE AND DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK.

TurboTax vs. 529 Distributions & Form 1099Q

Judging from the online comments, we are not alone - after two years of struggling through this, it is clear that TT's logic is designed to steer the user into unwittingly declare additional taxable income from 529 distributions. If your 529 distributions were used for qualified expenses, it is much easier to not acknowledge the 1099Q in the first place than to fight your way out of it after the fact.

Disappointed this year

I've been using TurboTax for years but this is the first year that I was very disappointed with the program. It wasn't as user friendly and it didn't explain what to do if the IRS had not processed my 2019 return and would reject my 2020 return. After I paid to file, your program said to mail it in. Then I should not be charged for the state return which of course was rejected too because of the federal return. Also, whereas you used to be able to ask questions within the program, this year it was not helpful at all.

TurboTax is Good, but Install times, need work

I Have used TurboTax for well over the last 2 decades. and ordinarily it is a great piece of software. I bit pricey perhaps, but not so much when compared against tax prep services.
My 2 main complaints about the software are that it is extremely computer resource intensive, old older Pc Hardware, and install times seem to take longer and longer.
This latest version that covers the "2020 tax year", with updates, took well over 1.5 hours to install!!. if they were to streamline it's capabilities, keeping up with all the current tax changes, while reducing the install times. and make it easier to use, on 5-7 year old hardware(Not everyone throws away good, completely working hardware every 2-3 years people, Get with it, already!!) and when a person had to go and file an Amended Return. then it would get 1 of it's stars back.
It would get back its full 5 star rating if they made it compatible with the Major Linux Distributions (Fedora, Ubuntu & Ubuntu Studio, & Linux Mint ) for starters.
It is a rather simple to use program, but I would like to see it get more streamlined,. with the current times, as some people have jumped ship from BOTH Windows and Mac Platforms, and are running Linux, more and frequently, and the Numbers are growing monthly.
