Multiple mistakes in 2020
on May 17, 2021

Multiple misspellings.
Error in functionality...It kept asking me for the date of sale of my house, for Capital Gains filing. I did not sell my house!! It ultimately forced me to make up a date in order to allow me to file. I hope that this does not create a problem. I did not sell my house!!

This product is NOT what it used to be

You have a LOT of bugs in the system this year and it was very noticeable. I assisted my mom to file her taxes and it took over two hours on the phone to get them filed.
I filed taxes for my son in March and made sure to write down my password and the system wouldn't accept it as valid. It took me over an hour to just file mine and I finally submitted with an incorrect Activity sheet that shouldn't have even been included with my filing.

Same Issues, Year Over Year
on May 17, 2021

I question if the software developers and accountants actually use TurboTax to file their own taxes, because if they did, I would suspect the reoccurring annoyances and poor functionality would be corrected.
1. Functionality and benefit of the help center and FAQs seems to be less and less each year. Been relying more on Google searches.
2. Most people have multiple monitors at their homes and I move windows around based on what I'm reviewing to complete data entry. Your popups only open on the main display rather than the monitor where I've moved the TurboTax window.
3. After I've completed the interviews and I'm only going back to check certain sections, even though I select "I'll choose what I work on", you still have to page through the interview again and confirm previously answered questions and several that you have to answer again which weren't retained from your initial pass. Example: Vehicle Expenses ... I just want to doublecheck the mileage totals I entered, not page through 7 asked and answered screens.
4. Numerous topics contain questions where TurboTax should know the answer and prepopulate, especially when the customer has used TurboTax the prior 20+ years. Example: NOLs, carryforwards, etc. I have to search prior year tax forms numerous times to complete the current year return.
5. By the time you finish all the interviews and enter all your data, you're ready to be done (I complete 3 returns each year, personal and 2 businesses). It's frustrating having to muddy through all the questions after final review just to get to the point of e-filing. I live and work in Texas, yet had to go through 2 screens to skip state taxes. TurboTax should recognize this and skip it for you. In addition, several of the post-review Q&A could be asked at the beginning to make exiting less painful.
6. I've worked on taxes the last 2 weekends, checking and rechecking to make sure I got everything entered (again doing 3 returns). So, I open TurboTax the evening of the tax deadline to e-file my taxes and TurboTax performs a software update which requires me to re-enter an activation key from an online purchase 5 months ago ... REALLY? I'm traveling, so I had to call my wife and waste 20 minutes having her dig up records of an electronic purchase so I could continue with the process. Icing on the cake!
Pros: I bought or sold investments

My taxes were almost done. I saved them. It didn't save them right and overwrote a new blank file. Instructions overall are poor . Sucks this year. When I restarted from ground zero it didn't pull up info from prior years
Pros: I bought or sold investments
