TurboTax does make filing taxes fairly simple

TurboTax walks you through all the applicable possibilities and provides answers to the first normal question of "what is that and does it apply to me?" The ability to import investment data directly from my financial institutions prevents what could be many, many typos. The only error in my return was a typo that TurboTax caught that I entered.

TurboTax OK but no Better

Very slow!
Asking for the same information over and over for "Security" purposes very annoying!
Got stuck in loop asking for payment fee method for a refund I didn't have!!!!!!
Asks way to many times to save along the process and then takes forever to do so. Why not do it automatically in background?
Asks to sell me services I don't want way to many times.

Product is great for tax preparation and finding the best solutions for my situation. This year had some issues with TT working the file on my win10 machine and had to switch to a mac to do it.

UNBELIEVABLY POOR USER INTERFACE!!!!!

I spent at least 4 hours yesterday for what should have been one hour of work.
I could not the dialog screens to advance so that I could purchase forms and filing for a second state and will have to attempt that now on the last day deadline.
I did eventually get the Intuit screens to accept payment for audit protection and assistance but in subsequent screens, the system would not let me post my transaction number and advance to the next dialog screen.

I've used TurboTax since it was text based in the 80's. Every year it gets better and more thorough in ensuring that all the bases are covered. You still have to have your information together, but it's the exact same information you'd have to gather if you hired an accountant for 5 times the money. Well worth it!
