TurboTax used to be better!

I have used TurboTax since 1999 and have been a loyal customer since. While the software offers a user-friendly front end (meaning you don't have to fill out all the final forms transmitted to the IRS), the input often is inconsistent and either doesn't ask you for the right information or there are several bugs that change the data. Either way, it requires you to edit the forms to correct what should have been correct based on your input. Whether this was just a fluke due to Covid-19 issues, or it's a building problem with tax code complexity, TurboTax should be prepared for unusual situations (like self employment business having $0 for 2020 due to covid) and not have unexplained error codes. Everyone in my household had some issues that required editing the behind the scenes forms. Luckily, there were fixes for each provided in the forums, but 1) users shouldn't have to debug the software and 2) shouldn't have to delete/create forms just to get around issues. Very disappointed that the bugs called out in the forums weren't fully addressed in the software through, at minimum, further details in the help section directly related to the error codes generated by the software. Please improve! I don't think I will use TT next year. It's too expensive - I could get an accountant to do it for the price of the software and state efile fees.

Worse each year

This year, TY 2020, it seems unless you type the exact thing you are looking for, TurboTax won't give you the shortcut to that thing. For example if you type SEP IRA Contribution there is no shortcut because it has to be "Contributions" plural. Similarly Schedule B is Sch B. And if you are looking for Household Employee, good luck. How can modern software that so many people rely on be so awful, and getting worse? And bugs that were around last year (e.g. mortgage interest if you have refinanced and have more than one lender's form) are still not fixed.

I have actually used TurboTax since it was distributed on a floppy disk. If you don't know what that is, it tells you I have used it for a long, long, time. I am highly satisfied with your product and with the way it handles my tax return. The explanations and user interface are done in a way that inspires my confidence in the accuracy and correct handling of tax issues without being too wordy.

Awful

I've been using TT for decades and have never had trouble like this year. I'm not even sure my taxes have been done right, but they need to be filed so will have to solve remaining issues and amend later if necessary. Bugs all over the place. Wouldn't even let me file my state return online. Without improvement, I can't imagine going through this again.

My tax situation includes Schedule C and 1099's of various types. TurboTax makes it easy to walk through all of this.

Its step-by-step method is really great. As if somebody is asking you question and you keep answering. Very smooth flow. I am using this for last 9 years.

As someone that is not savvy on computers or with taxes, I have been so grateful to use Turbo tax. I was so overwhelmed, but the program walked me through everything and explained things I didn't understand.

It was fairly slow to start up but once everything was loaded and updated the process was simple and easy to follow.
