Works well but not perfect

I am able to complete a complicated return and it has gotten better year by year. I still come up against subtle problems where the logic for an entry is not at all obvious. I've had to google the error message to get a good solution which is usually from the TT community but I couldn't find it as easily using the TT help search. This last time, I only had two errors where I had to do this--down from previous years so it's getting better.

Use It every Year

I've started using TurboTax in 1985 and have been using it every year. And every year it gets better and better. Simplicity, clear instructions and ease of use what makes me go to it every time. I trust TurboTax to help me complete my tax return.

NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART

I've used Turbo Tax for years and it seems like it keeps getting worse. This year the program would NOT take my Schedule A itemized deductions which were more than the standard. It kept giving me "Congratulations....you get the Standard Deduction"! Even the Helpdesk & tax advisor couldn't make it work. Other glitz is that the State portion basically gives you NO advice on what anything means, you are on your own figuring that mess out. I was finally able to get the program to input the correct deduction after deleting cookies & restarting computer. May just have a professional do them next year after all the hours I spent on completing this year's taxes & praying they are right since I had a hard time understanding most of the directions not printed in layman's terms.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Lots of potential, but falls short in so many ways

Many questions are confusing, decision trees are clunky and misleading, and sometimes causes direct errors in the forms. Upon review with the experts, I seem to be teaching them more than they teach me (I'm not a CPA nor do I work with money). This is consistent year after year.
